I'm a Giants fan but I am realistic, so I don't think we'll win the Superbowl when we get there :D

So here are my pics-

Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:30 ET, ABC

I think the Skins win and Win big. They are rolling and Tampa is overrated imo with a QB with no experience

Skins 23-16 over the Bucs

Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots, 8 ET, ABC

Patriots are being knocked around on talk shows cuz the Colts and Bengals are hot but the Patriots imo are the most dangerous team in the AFC still.

Pats 27-23 over the Jags

Carolina Panthers at New York Giants, 1 ET, FOX

I'm a Giants fan so now way I go against them.lol Our old defense coach John Fox comes back to face us but thankfully its at Giants stadium and that makes all the difference in this close game.

Giants 20-16 over the panthers ( I hope)

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals, 4:30 ET, CBS

This is the toughest game to pick But I like the steelers playoff experience over the bengals trash talking players with no experience in big games.

Steelers 23-20 over the bengals

Those are pics what about you guys and why?

Alright, the last post was a brief overview of what I think will happen. I'll break down week by week as we go along. So, here we go.

Redskins @ Bucs.

Skins have a lot of momentum, Brunell and Santana Moss are an unstoppable combo if there has been one this season in the NFL as of the last few weeks. I agree with Redskins big, but I'm going bigger. Skins take this one 27-13.

Jags @ Pats.

The Jaguars are a stunning sleeper this season in the NFL with a 12-4 record on the year, but Leftwich is just back from injury and the rest of this team is very inexperienced playoff-wise. Not to mention that the Patriots just LOVE January. Pats roll 24-10.

Panthers @ Giants.

The Giants are strong. That's all there is to it. The Panthers have had a strong year as well, but the only chance I see for them against Tiki and that Giants defensive line is the hope that Eli will choke big time in his first playoff game. Giants take it 17-6.

Steelers @ Bengals.

I agree with this being the toughest pick. The Steelers have struggled quite a bit this season, but mainly due to injuries. The Bengals are VERY inexperienced, and Chad Johnson can't do it all. How impressive was The Bus today? Look for A LOT more of the Bus next week, as well as for that defense to stay tough. Steelers charge ahead in this one 31-14.

My Pats are serious right now. That was a great playoff atmosphere Sat. nite at Gillette. I still don't have my voice back yet. Watch out Denver! I think this will be that game that everyone is waiting for Jake Plummer to have. You know a 3 or 4 INT game. ;)

On another note WOW the Giants stunk up the whole joint. Man does Eli have a lot of work to do this offseason. That boy looked pretty bad. I don't know who looked worse him or Chris Simms? :D

I feel terrible for Carson Palmer. Torn ACL. That is major right there. Guess he won't be my #1 pick afterall for next years Fantasy season. Just hate to see that type of injury happen to any player (watched it happen to Harrison and Culpepper earlier this year) especially someone who's having the best season of his young career. I don't know if the outcome of that game would have been different had he not gone down, but you could see what that did to the team and to the fans in Cincy.

A lot of stinkers in the 1st playoff weekend. Giants didn't show up,neither did the Jags. Once palmer was hurt that game was in the bag for the steelers. Only good game was the Redskins and Bucs but even that was hard to watch.

Payback may be one thing, but even considering the violent nature of pro football, what Palmer took there in the leg was questionable at best and may have been a deliberate dirty cheap shot. That's the kind of stuff the Raiders were known for for many years....though all teams have done it now and then.

Sucks for the Bengals. I really wanted to see them in Super Bowl. Palmer will have to show 'em up next year

I firmly believe it will be Panther's and Colt's in the super bowl this year. i am a diehard Carolina Fan and cannot believe that shut-out performance we had against NY. So everyone that doubted the Panthers this year remember this : We are a force to be rechoned with in the NFC!!!!

if you know Von Oelhoffen you would know that it wasn't intentional

anyway maybe you missed the second time we played the Bengals and Odell Thurman did the same thing

if this was anyone else besides one the four "golden boys" in the NFL no one would be complaining (Manning 1 and 2, Brady and Palmer)

plus the Cincinnati defense is two years away from competing for a championship...the Steelers would have won anyway

yea i think either the COLTS or PATS (yes i didn't say BRONCOS) will make it to the superbowl on the AFC side.

the NFC is open right now, but if the PANTHERS can play like that for the rest of the playoffs be on the lookout! i also like the SEAHAWKS coming outta the NFC as well.

Man what a weekend. My two favorite teams won Steelers and the Pats with my Pats just looking good as usual and the Steelers well the looked good too.

The hit on Palmer, no way in an shape or form was that deliberate. The poor guy Volhofen or whatever his name was looked so upset to see his buddy there. He used to play for the Bengals and if u watched he defenitley got blocked into him.

Next week look for the skins, Pats, Steelers and Chicago to move on ( Yes I did pick my favortie two teams lol)

Only missed the Giants game for week 1.

Carolina looked impressive, but the Bears D is much better than the NY Giants and Grossman is an unknown for them, look for the Bears to win by at least 7.

Next week

Colts
Patriots
Bears
Seahawks

Bears and Patriots in a rematch from the '85 season. Unfortunately I think the Pats will win it and become the 1st team to three-peat in the SuperBowl.

Alright Ed  ! I like the way you think. I made the very same prediction to a friend of mine the other day. The main reason for believing these two teams will meet is coaching. Lovie Smith gets my vote for coach of the year and well the guy on the other side of the sideline is IMHO the greatest football coach ever and if the PATS win this one how could you argue.

On another note, I'm very surprised that New England lost. Even though Indy/Denver have good teams, I expected the Pats to be there in the Superbowl.

Wow...what weekend. so many upsets...

Da Bears !!! Going Home...LOL...LOL Great season tho..I think the Panthers are for real after what they did to the Giants at NY and Da Bears in Shy Town. I can't see them going into seattle and losing.

Broncos and Steelers is going to be a very boring Game. Noone wanted this match up expect people from Denver and Pittsburgh. The rating are going to be very low now that the Colts and Pats are out of the playoffs...

Panthers and Seahawks might be a better game. Go Panthers.........

I'm not going to make any excuses for my Pats cause we lost and we lost convincingly. However the one play that stands out in my mind was the call against Asante Samuel for Pass interference that to me if anything was OFFENSIVE pass interference. That play to me right there changed the complexion of the game. It didn't help that Kevin faulk fumbled and then Hobbs lost one on a punt return. Too many mistakes but we'll be back next year. We've been known to take a year off and come back to win it all again.

My Superbowl pick ......................The dreaded Squeelers and their terrible towels. Playoffs are all about momentum and the Steelers have just that. I believe they will fair better than my Pats in Denver if they can limit their own turnovers and force some. This is Jerome Bettis' last shot and he deserves it.

01-16-06, 06:50 AM
Superpats- I've been known to be wrong around these parts with my picks but I don't think anyone except maybe half the people in Pittsburgh thought they had a chance against the Colts. That was the biggest upset in sports in years......

Did I say Bears over the Panthers too :egads:

I actually want the steelers to go to Big Sunday now for Mr. Bettis who really deserves it for everything he has done in this game...

I think its should be Panthers and Steelers...2 teams with great defenses but still lots of punch on offense.

RiverRat
01-16-06, 07:39 AM
Something tells me that the Panthers won't take the Seahawks down....but if Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme keep up that incredible chemistry, anything is possible against that Seattle secondary, or lack there of.

I definitley thought they had a chance. I picked em on my card. I knew if they didn't win they would give Indy all they could handle and if Indy were to advance the Pats or Broncos would've already had them on the ropes because of how physical the Steelers play. They are now officially my pick to win it all. They are on a roll and momentum is key in the playoffs. I like both road teams in next weeks matchups.
On another note how about the play calling from the Colts offense? Why did they wait till the 4th quarter to throw downfield? Why do teams stray away from what makes them so successful throughout the regular season in the playoffs? Now I like Tony Dungy as a person and I feel terrible about what he just went through and I give a lot of credit to the Pittsburgh D but that was flat out Bad coaching on the Colts part.

SCRUFFDOGG
01-16-06, 10:43 AM
No doubt that was an interception. The Colts had every chance to win that game, great effort by Rothlisberger to save that TD, I think if Harper went to the sideline he had a TD. I think they called a couple bone head plays at the end, 2nd and 2 I believe and they throw the long fade to the end zone and then on 3rd they throw down the field, how about a short pass to get the first and use your timeouts to get a couple more short plays to get the kicker closer.

The Bears just couldn't get anything to work on D, have to give credit to the Panthers, they did what they had to do. The Bears just weren't ready and they got completely out the game plans that got them there. Why the hell did they go long the 1st 2 offensive plays, yes they were down 7-0 but it's 1st quarter and running and D got them there and they basically let the Panthers D dictate the game from there.

My other pick for the SB was the Patriots, the turnovers, expecially the interception at the goal line when the score was 10-6 was the key play in my mind. Changed momentum and gave the Broncos the breathing room they needed.

Steelers played great and the play calling was excellent, can't say the same for the Colts.

For this week, no way 2 road teams are winning, especially if you look at the history and how many road teams have won AFC/NFC Championship games.

The Broncos won't be fooled or outplayed like the Colts were (besides they are 12-2 at home in the Playoffs and they are 6-1 in AFC Championship games) and Seattle has a much better offense than the Bears. I like both home teams in close games.

Superbowl = Seattle vs Denver

Congrats Steelers, congrats Seahawks.

Steelers have had an unbelievable post-season run. Beating Cincy, Indy, and Denny in successive weeks is no small feat. There was no luck in their run so far.

Seahawks, wow. I never thought I'd live to see the day. Growing up in Kirkland WA, I was living two blocks away from their practice facility, and I used to go watch them when I was a kid. There was hardly any other fans there from what I can remember, and losing was an annual routine. I nearly lost my voice from cheering so hard yesterday!

Should be a fun Super Bowl!
