1SICKREVIEW However, as exciting as watching mice mate (RX vs Kia SUV)
I used to post here all the time in the old GS and since then, my racing days are pretty much over as the Lexus I have been driving the past couple years are as slow as President Bush in a debate with kindergarten kids. As a matter of fact, I think sometimes, the only thing I am racing is time, when the hell I am actually going to reach my destination.
One time I think I was racing the ice cream truck, and he won even with a line of kids waiting for icecream.
But today, I WAS AVENGED!! RESURRECTED!! What a thrill!! Though, this race is as silly as seeing who can eat the most hotdogs in 1 hour, someone has to do it.
One thing I don't like, are cars that clearly knock-off Lexus. That is why the Frenchies at Nissan get a verbal lashing from me all the time. Hyundai's SUV is a DIRECT knock-off of the RX 300. Here is proof from pics I took recently of a friends Kia
Well, this SOB in the Kia in the pick above is clearly upset I am driving the Lexus and he's in the knock-off. I think he was trying to get as close as possible to steal my Lexus badges while driving.
At first I was ignoring it, (being in a white/beige RX is one of the most calmest things in the planet) but I started getting pissed as he contined and I couldnt' go anywhere on this 2 lane road with people in front of me.
SICKSENSE took over, as I engaged the power button, like it turned on some turbo or something. I am now no better than the ricers in Hondas who think V-Tech is forced induction.
IT was about to be on. SUV vs SUV. Silly man vs Man crying inside
What would happen????
He looks over, as he clearly is upset the real thing, the Lexus was in front of him, on the way to Bed Bath and Beyond. I guess he didn' tknow if he would have enough time.
The light turns green. Mind u this AWD RX is no race car in any sense but it can hold its own. And it did, as I slowly pull away from the asshat in the knock-off. It wasn't close, I was about 3 SUVs ahead (that sounded GHEY) by 80mph and I took off to the fast lane on the highway goinb over 100mph.
I then pop my flashers, as they do in the Fast and Furious. I then move over one lane and slow down, as my victory has been accomplished.
The asshat does teh ricer driveby, finally catching up 10 minutes later going 100mph.
This guy last seen on the way to CarMax trying to get a good deal on the real thing, a RX 300.
Nice RX, BTW - I had an exact copy, AWD, Golden Pearl over Beige. Probably the finest long-distance runner I've ever owned. After two or three weeks on the road, living out of the car, you begin to think more of smoothness, comfort, and silence than you do of outright pavement-ripping performance.

It's nice to know that you got a good AWD foul-weather machine.
If your GS can keep up with Bush in a debate, you're going to get speeding tickets......better get yourself a Valentine or an Escort.
Yes, the Kia's Sorento styling is smiliar to the RX...at least the first-generation RX that you have.
Considering the big difference in price, and the fact that Hyundai and Kia are giving you pretty good quality and value for the money ( and the fact, of course, that imitation is the best form of flattery) I don't see any real problems with that.
Just out of curiosity, how would you compare the two? Let's get an opinion here from one of CL's top reviewers. You have already noted the styling similarities, and the fact that Hyundai / Kia quality has risen enormously in recent years. I have looked at but not yet driven a Sorento ( you are ahead of me there ) . I have driven RX'es. My guess is that the RX has a quieter ride and smoother-shifting transmission.
