So how do you choose between the M5 and the M6 ? If you need space, the M5 is the one. For those who don't, the M6 performs ever so slightly better according to the numbers. According to the seat of our pants, however, the M6 feels much better, making it the purist's choice ( though at a premium of $16,000 ). As for styling, well, it's not even a question. Every German we came across gave the M6 a third look, whereas the M5 barely received a passing glance. Germans know their cars, and they love the M6.

The M6 owns all. Irrelevant is the fact there are other cars that may "test" better (at a cost of 6 figures more). When choosing the car that is right for ME, the M6 absolutely owns everything on the road twice over.
Every since someone on my mountain bought a black on black 635i I have almost began to stalk it around the mountain to stare. The 6'er is the best BMW ever IMO.
I like both cars... My dad originally wanted an M6, but he got tierd of waiting for them to start bringing them over to this side of the pond so he ordered his M5.
Speaking of which, he will be on a flight to South Carolina to meet his new M5 at the US "M" headquarters in about 5 hours! I can't wait for the car to be delivered here (mostly becuase I will then be inheriting a SC430!)

I like both but since I'm a coupe man, M6 gets the nod. I think they could have done a little better with styling, especially on the 5. I like the styling of both. What I mean is I think there should be more of a difference between regular models and the M models. The differnces are only slight. Put nice but aggressive kits on the regular models and they look just as good. Since you can't use the available power on American roads and not many od us track the cars, who needs MPower. I know, power is good but I'm happy with anything between 250-300 hp.
I' ve read in the 3GS forum some dealers are asking for more than $10K mark-up over MSRP for the M5 right now . . .
I think it is location dependent. I've came across two M5s - one before my car was delivered and one just after - I could have had either for sticker. They didn't last long. My dealer also admitted to me that a build slot had opened up for an M5 if I wanted it instead of my 550 (even though my 550 was already produced).
In the end I went with the 550 cause the mileage was better. yea right.
