These are the FIRST ever shots (and will likely remain the only ones...) of the future Audi R8, the showcar of which was called the "Le Mans". It'll be Audi's answer to the Mercedes SLR and be based on the Lamborghini Gallardo. Customers will have the choice between a V8 engine featuring around 400 bhp and a bi-turbo V10 with an output close to 600 bhp and a top-speed of 345 km/h. The car's official debut will be in around one year's time. Our pictures were taken at Volkswagen's secret test-base in the north of Sweden.

Sigh....I have a problem with that.
I love Audi. I mean its kinda hard for me to not like what they have been putting out recently. RS4, S8, Veyron, etc, but why must they keep stepping on there own toes. Phaeton, A8. R8, Gallardo(with performance that will probably match the new Murci), Passat, A4, Jetta. Q7 and the rumored Lambo truck, etc. Its getting a little rediculous now.

New blue prototype barely covered
Yesterday we showed 15 spy photos of the Audi R8 super car undergoing high-speed track testing at the famous Nurburgring in Germany. That prototype was painted flat black with white polka dots to disguise the car’s svelte shape. Now these latest shots capture another prototype, showing more clearly the car’s dramatic looks with a light blue paint similar to the original Audi Le Mans Concept.

Don't like the way that horizontal bar for the licence plate covering much of the grill
Looks rather awkward in those photos. I'm sure if that wasn't a prototype and was one solid color it'd look better. Anyhow, kind looks like a cross between an Audi TT and Veyron.
