Default What does your car insurance company tell you??

What up people??

I'm just wondering, many of us who post on this site have done something or another to modify our cars whether it be Wheels, Suspension upgrade, BodyKit, etc. and a lot of these purchases have been made from other members for their barely used items so a lot of times we have no receipt for that mod we just did.

My question is what do you guys tell your insurance company in order to have those mods covered in the event your car is stolen, vandalized or is involved in a unfortunate accident?? Do you get a hard time because you do not have the original receipt??

Anybody with StateFarm??

hm i heard that if you call your insurance company and list your mod's and how much they cost, it's like $10 for $100 you spent to be added to your current insurance?

Yeah thats what I plan to do...I hope they don't give me the run around if something were to happen. I'm really trying to be proactive and avoid any headaches if something were to happen..

This is a good idea. Hopefully you have established a good relationship with your insurance agent and they are being upfront with you as to how the policy would respond in the event of a loss as for the mods on the vehicle.

A lot of insurance agents are only concerned with selling you a policy and will tell whet ever you want to her so they can make the commision on the sell of the policy.

It is in your best interest to check your policy and understand if there is coverage for the aftermarket parts (a.k.a. mods.) in the evnt of a loss.

As for when purchasing items from another person, such as a C.L. member, have them write you a receipt on a piece of paper of what exactly they are selling you, the price, date and there signature. It is not guaranteed that the insurance company would eccept this but it would not hurt to try.

oh yeah. i mean, it's just business. i told him i am willing to pay, and i need to add 10k extra insurance on the car coz' of this and that. and i provided all the pics and as many receipts as possible. they were impressed, and they have everything written down in my policy. so it's a cool deal
