View Full Version : NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Sat. night. Who you got?
bluelex 02-17-06, 12:44 PM I know its not like back in the day anymore but last year was pretty good. Its a shame guys like Vinsanity ,Kobe, and Lebron won't participate but it does give some high flying younsters a chance like last years winner Josh Smith of the Hawks. He was nasty last year. And thank God that crazy kid Bird man is not in the league to embarrass himself like last year. what was his name, chris anderson right?
well here are the 4 Dunkers.
Andre Iguodala Philadelphia F 6-6 207
Nate Robinson New York G 5-9 180
Josh Smith Atlanta F 6-9 225
Hakim Warrick F 6-9 219
I'm going for my man Nate from My Knicks, can we see another Spud Web show?
SCRUFFDOGG 02-18-06, 10:57 AM My Husky dogg NATE ROB! He's taking this thing :woohoo:
RiverRat 02-18-06, 10:59 AM :D Nate Rob...he's on the worst team in the league, but I'm curious to see what he can pull out!
He better be the next Spudd Webb when it comes to dunks :D
goin for the little guy....sucks the NBA will only let players that have not only played more then 2years in the dunk contest now.
RiverRat 02-18-06, 08:43 PM NATE ROBINSON WINS!!!! He had an INCREDIBLE DUNK OVER SPUD WEBB, it was a ONE HANDED stuff after Spudd bounced the ball in the air. IT WAS INCREDIBLE.
Too bad Andre Iguodala got ROBBED big time. He should have won, his round 1 dunk from behind the backboard was UNBELIEVABLE. But, the judges robbed AI to give the win to the crowd favorite NateRob.
This comp. went to a dunkoff, Nate and AI were tied after round 2.
Final Score (3 rounds)
Nate Robinson: 141
Andre Iguodala: 140
bluelex 02-19-06, 06:04 AM Nate just flew.
bluelex 02-19-06, 06:08 AM I don't think AI was robbed, They say that one of the judges brought down his card and changed the numer to have Nate win but if you look and I did on my TIVO many times moses malone put up and 10 than brought it down thinking they got his score, than he reallized the other judges were still holding up their scores so he raised his 10 again. Its clear as day on the Tivo unless it happen before the tv cameras zoome on the judges But i don't think that the case.
bluelex 02-19-06, 06:13 AM AI's Dunk was original and amazing..
bluelex 02-19-06, 06:14 AM another...
bluelex 02-19-06, 06:15 AM but little dude was crazy, you have to give the little guy more points for getting just as high as the big guys.
bluelex 02-19-06, 06:16 AM this one was crazy......the ball seems to be bigger than him sometimes yet he was able to pump it under his legs and jam it home..
RiverRat 02-19-06, 08:35 AM Remember the end of the second round, after NateRob dunked over spudd and got the 50, he was sittin with 94 points.
AI had 50 on his first dunk of the second round, so all he needed was a 45 to win it. His second dunk of the second round was worthy of a 45, but Kenny the Jet gave him an 8 instead of originally giving him a 9, that way he would get a 44 and we'd have a dunkoff. Kenny even admitted on the air to doing it because its what the fans wanted to see, a dunkoff. I guess it is all about the fans anyway, so it really doesn't matter who wins. I was entertained
bluelex 02-19-06, 08:42 AM ah your right, he did do that . I thought you wrer talking about the dunkoff round where some of the guys on the court were complaining that the score was changed when it wasn't. But Kenny did pull up an 8 cuz he wanted a dunk off. I think its was great idea but Kenny. lets get the fans there and on TV more involved and it worked...I really liked the contest.
Did anyone see the 50 greatest Dunks of all time. Jorden won with "The Leaner" well deserved imo. that my fav dunk of all time with Vince's reverse windmill 2nd..
i couldn't watch it because i don't have cable. did anyone happen to record it?
Nobody got robbed. That Fans won and that's what mattered. And my man Nate truly repped for NY and all Short men out there. We all know the NBA gives you height. They used to list barkley at 6'6" and he was 6' 4" at most. Did you guys see Nate side by side with spud who was listed at 5'7" back in the day. So you know just how tall/short Nate Robinson is. Moses Malone was definitely going the Philly angle with his 10's just as Kenny Smith wanted a Dunk Off. Man I loved every minute even all 22 of Nates missed dunk attempts. It's good to see the Dunk Contest coming bvack strong. Good Post BlueLex and great pics.
superpats 02-21-06, 07:46 AM The dunk contest has been entertaining the past 2 years but they still need more competitors. 4 people is just not enough. Big ups to lil Nate for doing his thing, but I gotta say AI's 2nd dunk in the first round was dunk of the night. That was just SICK!
Is there any truth in that 2 year thing someone posted? If so that's whack.

yea the 2yr thing is true...thats y u dont see Jason Richardson or Desmon Mason in it anymore....hopefully they will change it.
Man I think Josh Smith got robbed on his first dunk too...he went from the free throw line with two hands and he went way further then what Vinsanity did in 2000. But wonder why he put the tape down for? :uh:

I think that's the NBA's excuse because none of the big names want to do it anymore. I guarantee you if LeBron, Vince, Kobe, and T-Mac wanted to compete in the dunk contest that rule would be thrown out in a second!
is there anyway possibe to get a link or something to see this in action????
any video clips guys????

YOu the MAN..........thanks
man im late but nate the great is the man!!!!!!!
bluelex 02-22-06, 06:46 AM I don't think we ever got the whole "TAPE" thing but from what I understand in talk shows he put the tape down to know where to plant his 1st launching step so that he could jump from the line with his 2nd step, not like some guys who say they jump from the foul line when they actually stepped a foot into the line. Even Jorden when you look had alomost his whole foot inside the line. This kid wanted to measure it up right so that he could jump from exactly the line with the tip of his last step being before the line. Plus this kid did it with 2 hands from the line. That was amazing but everyone thoght he wanted to jump from the tape which is just not humanly possible. I hope that clears it up a little.
Dont think anybody got robbed, but saw this in another forum which was kinda funny
