a day that ill never forget. i remember seeing the crash. seeing him not get outta the car and then FOX switched programming :thumbdn: i was worried, but ended up falling asleep. i awoke to the press conference and the famous words of Mike Helton....... "This is undoubtedly one of the toughest announcements that I’ve ever personally had to make. But after the accident in Turn 4 at the end of the Daytona 500, we’ve lost Dale Earnhardt." wow. i can remember the pre-race show. it was FOX's 1st ever nascar race. they interviewed dale and he said, "youre gonna see something youve never seen before", with that devilish grin. he was right. i just wish i'd never seen it. so here's to the greatest to ever hold a wheel.
RIP Intimidator

The one part that sticks in my head at the end of that race was Waltrip. He went from celebrating his brother victory to uttering "Is Dale OK" and you heard the emotion in the way he said that like he just knew that it wasn't good, in fact it was horribly wrong. Something i'll never ever forget.
yeah, he had tears of happiness in his eyes for Mikey's win and then he looked towards turn 4 and said "i hope Dale's ok". it was just tragic. i was at the atlanta race that harvick won as a replacement. the place went wild. grown men were crying like babies.......

I watched the Dale Earnhardt movie and was disappointed. Although a decent characterization of his life, I felt they could do better. And honestly, it should not be a made for TV movie. It should go to theatres everywhere. He is worthy of that and deserves that.

Winners come and go, but legends live FOREVER.
RIP #3.
Ill never forget that day, i was at that daytona with my uncle, sitting on the backstretch. I saw the crash, on turn 4 through the binoculars (#3 was the only reason i was there), and it was all i could do to keep from crying, he hit that wall HARD.
at least he went fast.
