Honda is close to winning the race in becoming the first carmaker to offer a hydrogen- powered fuel cell car, according to Monsters and Critics. A major barrier to mass production of fuel cell vehicles has been the storage of hydrogen in a compact and effective manner. But Honda has reportedly found a way to extend the range of such vehicles to about 560 kilometres (350 miles). This is made possible by a new hydrogen absorption material, doubling tank capacity to five kilogrammes of hydrogen at 5000 PSI. Honda engineers also solved the problem of cold weather starts, achieving low-temperature starts comparable to gas engines. While many automakers have said it will take then 10 to 15 years to bring a fuel cell car to market, a Honda vehicles based on its FCX Concept could see production in only 48 months.

Interesting. I like Honda for their goals in technology.

We'll see how this all turns out. If Honda is looking into it, it's not wrong to assume that Toyota has been looking into it as well for a long time as well..

Kudos to Honda. They are one of the few true innovators in the industry.

But forget about fuel cell for a moment--are they coming out a with a gasoline version of the car depicted in the pic??? I'm so loving that design!!!:eek2:

thats a lot little car! but how are we supposed to put hydrogen in the car when it runs out? i would think they'd really need to increase the amount of refilling stations first.

Rumor mill has it that that will be the next TSX. Ah, I see. Was wondering why it was given an Acura grille.

It looks more like a coupe than a sedan though. The next RSX maybe?

I saw that new Nuclear Reactors are being built in Texas to produce, guess what? Hydrogen! It will be great when the US can create its own hydrogen without using middle eastern oil.

We are finally getting close and that Honda design is GREAT :woot:
