You got yourself a sweet ride man.21 years old and it seems to be in outstanding shape. I've always been a fan of that model. Must be a lot of fun to drive.

Of all my collected classics, she's the oldest and perhaps the nicest since I give it a good bit of my attention

Still looks great, a family friend used to have one back in the late 80's exactly the same color

Cool

Wow man, You just took me back. Smurfs, Voltron, Max Headroom and all of that. I LOVE THE 80'S by the way the Red Vette looks sweet. Reminds me of of an old Prince song.

Even more detailed. I have a specialist that drops the exhaust and cleans from manifold back, then de-carbons the entire engine

You are, as usual, correct

There were no 1983 Corvettes produced for public sale, but 43 pilot models of the new-generation Corvette were built in 1983 for testing purposes. Today, one of those 1983 pilots is on display at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The rest were scrapped.

1984 was the first year of a redesigned, all new corvette since 1968.

In 1984, Chevrolets CROSSFIRE smallblock eight-cylinder engine produced 205 horsepower as opposed to the new "tuned port injection" 250 hp / 350 ft lb V-8 of the 1985 models.

Incidentally, 1985 was the fastest L98 of all produced up to 1990. One reason was the steel (iron) heads, the other was a very hard locking torque convertor found only in 1985.

The 1984 Corvette was finishing the 1/4 in the low 15's while the 1985 L98 was pulling 13.7 consistently.

I now have better respect for the car. Pretty impressive for a 21 yr-old car. I didn't know the car was that fast. A friend of mine had one and I ran circle around him at the track and autox in my Type R (4-banger). Maybe he was just a bad driver.
