Got Horses? Brabus Pumps 730 HP Into Mercedes S600
GENEVA — Brabus, the German tuning house that specializes in Mercedes-Benz, arrives here with several new pieces of hot hardware, the most significant of which is the new S V12 S Biturbo.
The prosaic name belies the amazing transformation that Brabus has performed on the Mercedes-Benz S600. Brabus proclaims its new edition as "the fastest luxury sedan in the world," with 0-60 acceleration in less than 4 seconds and an electronically governed top speed of 211 mph.
At the heart of the S V12 S Biturbo is a Brabus-prepared 6.3-liter version of the S-Class V12, fitted with larger twin turbos and otherwise massaged to produce 730 horsepower and 974 pound-feet of torque (limited electronically to 811 lb-ft). The additional hardware includes a more efficient intercooler and a high-performance stainless-steel exhaust system, as well as reprogrammed engine electronics.
A modified five-speed automatic transmission is fitted, and Brabus offers an optional locking rear differential for optimal traction.
An aero kit on the S V12 S Biturbo includes a specially designed front apron, side sills, rear apron and deck lid spoiler. Brabus wheels in 20- and 21-inch diameters are available, and can be shod with Pirelli or Yokohama high-performance rubber.
Interior modifications include custom leather upholstery and a full multimedia kit.
What this means to you: Brabus ups the bar once again, this time on the S-Class sedan.
