Thats not to bad. Very similar to the V6 engine. :bigthumbu: 6.1 sec for the 3.5L is stil very impressive. Thats a great time. Gojirra99 03-29-06, 07:48 PM Damn. 7.3 for the Hybrid!!?? Thats not to bad. Very similar to the V6 engine. :bigthumbu: Which one ? ;) This one is tuned for fuel economy more than for performance I guess . . . 6.1 sec for the 3.5L is stil very impressive. Thats a great time. I expect it to be comparable to the Avalon all along :) GFerg 03-29-06, 07:51 PM Which one ? ;) This one is tuned for fuel economy more than for performance I guess . . . I expect it to be comparable to the Avalon all along :) oh sorry, I ment to put in old V6. The 3.0-3.3L engines. xioix 03-29-06, 08:18 PM Toyota really underrated their times for the new camry BoDarville 03-29-06, 08:47 PM do you have scans of the article claiming these times? this recent R&T article (April '06) was claiming just under 9 secs for the hybrid: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=6&article_id=3369 :uh: Gojirra99 03-29-06, 08:53 PM 7.3 sec. is "under 9 sec." right ? :p I think that article is more like a preview rather than a review posting actual test results. PhilipMSPT 03-29-06, 09:29 PM That sounds great. Still not the rocket I want, but what else would you expect from a Camry? :D 1SICKLEX 03-29-06, 10:06 PM That sounds about right. How much does the Carmy weigh vs the ES? If its similar, the ES wil post similar times. Ten years ago, no one would have said a stock Camry would be this fast. Ten years ago, no one was thinking about Hybrid Camrys and it would be faster than the old V-6 ones. Amazing. SteVTEC 03-29-06, 11:29 PM Damn, 7.3 is pretty good. A little slower than what I'm used to but definitely doable with the awesome fuel mileage. And it's about $5k less than the Accord hybrid too. Will definitely have to give the Camry a second look. aliti19 03-30-06, 12:03 AM Damn, 7.3 is pretty good. A little slower than what I'm used to but definitely doable with the awesome fuel mileage. What are you doing over here on CL? :p bitkahuna 03-30-06, 09:45 AM R&T (0-60) Camry V6 = 6.1s, Camry Hybrid = 7.3s Impressive. Given increased congestion and road rage even the average Camry driver now needs this performance just to merge onto the highway! GFerg 03-30-06, 09:53 AM Hmmm...its pretty crazy to say that a Camry might be able to hold its own against a GS400. Thats kinda nutty. Gojirra99 03-30-06, 10:52 AM Hmmm...its pretty crazy to say that a Camry might be able to hold its own against a GS400. Thats kinda nutty.Well the GS400 is old already :) GFerg 03-30-06, 11:03 AM haah...we all know this. I'm just using it as an example as to how far the Camry has advanced in the past 5-9 years. Its impressive. Shawnmack 03-30-06, 11:43 AM Toyota Is starting to change the whole car game A camry smoking a Bimmer lol XeroK00L 03-30-06, 12:09 PM Cool. So a sub-6-second time is very possible when the car's in C&D's hand. :woohoo: BoDarville 04-05-06, 02:20 PM 7.3 sec. is "under 9 sec." right ? :p I think that article is more like a preview rather than a review posting actual test results. okay...so than where is the review posting the actual test results? :uh: spwolf 04-05-06, 03:47 PM okay...so than where is the review posting the actual test results? :uh: in Road and Track magazine I assume? Your local BN? :-) Bean 04-06-06, 02:35 AM Toyota Is starting to change the whole car game A camry smoking a Bimmer lol Not just any bimmer though; that seems to be faster (trap speeds anyway) than the new 330i even Imagine the Toyota commercial; Camry pulling up next to a new 330i and smoking it at a light. And then the ad ends with captions "Oh, it gets better gas mileage and lower emissions too" |
