Lightbulb Saw my first Cayman.....

Hey, this lil sucka doesn't look bad in the flesh I cannot lie, the pics had me but in person, as I pulled up I looked and was like "is that a 911" and then quickly the rear hunches stood out and it easily looks like the Cayman.

Not bad!

I' ve seen a few in person, they look more fresh & every bit as attractive as the 997if not more.
I actually likes the front/headlights better, though still prefer 997's rear. This new Cayman rocks

i've seen a few around here as well,

and the front has me completely fooled for a 911..and then the rear passes by.

personally the 911's rear haunches don't truly appeal to me, so the Cayman is a nice "compromise" as far as i see it.

Ive seen a few Caymans at the dealers and just around the streets and I must say I think it just might be my favorite Porsche at the moment...Style wise. It looked good in the pics to me then when I actually saw was in person, I thought it looked 100x better.

Saw one a couple days back at the Post Office...the front had me thinking 997 but as it drove by, no mistaking it. My preference is the 997 though. Would liek to hear the engine at WOT.

The pics don't do that car justice.
In the metal it's a really nice looking car.
I wouldn't mind trading the GS for one.

I loved the Cayman right from the first time I saw one in a picture - however after watching Top Gear and listening to Jeremy Clarkson compare it in terms of its various important charasteristics such as performance, price, engine etc to the Boxster and 911, and noticing how deliberate that on all those important traits it was slotted exactly in the middle of the Boxster and 911 - that kinda turned me off.

A bit too much of a coincidence was what Jeremy was trying to get across. He felt the Cayman could have been so much better as it had a very modern design in terms of all it's chassis dynamics, tuning and performance it could have been much better sports car than the 911.

As far as Jeremy was concerned, he felt that Porsche did a great disservice to loyal Porsche fans by "limiting" it's performance potential just so that it would not encroach on 911's territory - that is how good the basics of the Cayman are. Obviously Porshce limited the Cayman for business reasons and that may very well be justified, however he felt that auto enthusiasts had been let down because of that.

Anyone else watch that episode of Top Gear? What were your conclusions? Better yet has anyone driven all three models - Boxster, Cayman and 911 to see this for yourself?

There was one at the track (along with an IS350) about a month ago at a Porsche DE. Looked great.

My fiance was over chatting with a group of guys including the owners, she asked "so does this come in a convertible?" They all just kinda paused for a few seconds and one that knew her started laughing when he realized she was joking.

To me that just means its a car that has more modding potential then the 911. id still get it.

Ya, I definitely like the stance in person. It looks a lot wider and more aggressive.
