I'm starting a little early for my next winter and utility vehicle and saw an FJ on the road the other day.

The undated throwback look is something else - me likey!

Has anyone test drove one yet? I haven't had a chance to get out of the office early enough - my past trucks were an MDX and Explorer (I know apples to oranges but I would love to hear from this community).

It should drive and handle a lot like the V6 4Runner...it is built on the same chassis, with the same drivetrain and off-road capabilities. The main differences, of course, are cosmetic......the lack of B-Pillars, forward-opening rear doors, and retro-styling of the front end, dash, and rear pillars.......resulting in a massive blind spot from the huge rear-pillars in the back.

looks okay, but they should've just made it a 4 door to avoid the above problems and better access.

It is a four door, just rear suicide doors. In fact, magazines have praised it for better rear passenger access/entry.

See motorweek review above..so far that is one badass little truck. hopefully the soccer moms and weekend poseur dads will stay away since it looks "cheap"

It drives quite nicely. Though you do get a good dose of wind noise. Make sure you have the mirrors setup right as the blind spot is quite large. Though right now they're selling like hotcakes and they are coming fully loaded. MSRPs in the 29K-31K range.

Then it wouldnt be a retro FJ. However it does have those access doors to help rear seat entry.

I saw a silver one yesterday, it looks cool to me, though I normally aren't interested in this type of vehicles, I would like to test drive one .
