I just noticed the exxon pump said "Contains 10% Ethanol" as I pumped in $50 worth of gas today into my IS250 and wondered what effect it'll have versus the previously used MTBE.

I can't speak for anyone else, but since our state just started using E10 as of April 2nd 2006, I have noticed less power and poorer gas mileage. The power and acceleration in my 94 ES300 was barelly adequate for my taste. Now, I can definately feel it is sruggling to gain speed during freeway onramp accelerations. I'm also getting about 1-2 MPG less than before.

yea with this mileage decrease so much for lowering dependancy on foreign oil, were gonna need more now

I've been using E-10 for so long, I don't know of any effects it has on performance but I have noticed lately that i've been getting the *******est gas mileage in the world.

What is the verdict on this stuff? That website is informative, but it doesn't say if E-10 causes a decrease in mileage or power?

i thought ethanol has been in the fuel for a few years now? Ill go check at the exxon i go to alot but i might be wrong. Then again the guy at the gas station next to my house was beechin about this new E-10 crap because he has to get his tanks cleaned out to accept it...im confused.

BTW i want 109 Octane at the pump, forget this 93 crap ;)

I believe E10 has been around for many years in certain states like California, and it appears from reading during winter months in many other states as well. Not all states, however, had any kind of ethanol product. As I mentioned, 4/2/06 was the first time we here in my state got E10 since the legislature finally made it law.

Most places were using MTBE as an additive. 2006 was the federal deadline and now all states are supposed to use E10 from now on. I know in NY they switched maybe a year or 2 ago. Had to say bye-bye to Sunoco Ultra 94. Now we have Sunoco premium as 91 and their Ultra as 93. I used to love driving over the river to NJ so I could fill up with Ultra 94 for cheaper. Now its everywhere. Even in "Noo Joisey".

With 10% blend, you lose around 5% mpg... With 85%, its more like 30%-40% difference.

There are like 2 rest stops on the NJTP that still have 94 at the Sunoco, I just filled up at one a week ago when I drove through NJ :p

I remember when we went to SEMA at the beginning of the month i stopped at a sunoco to get gas, LexGS thought i was crazy for paying an extra 10cents per gallon for the 94 over the 93.
