I agree that it is ludicrous for a company like Ferrari, but let's be honest.......that is what many, if not most, of us said whan Porsche first announced the Cayenne a litle under 10 years ago...and the Ccayenne went on to become a success. In fact, it is today one of Porsche's biggest sellers.
Now...as far as Enzo rolling over in his grave, I don't think so. Despite owning and managing one of the most exotic sports-car companies on the planet, he himself was not really much of a sports-car fanatic himself. In fact, his daily driver ( yes, I'm serious ) was an econobox Fiat 128. ( Fiat used to make a big deal of that in its advertising ). He never really looked at sports and exotic cars from a pleasurable, auto-enthusiast point of view...to him it was a buisness that paid his salary. After the death of his son he went into a depression that he never really recovered from either. And, while I of course cannot prove it, ( and I understand the desire of his employees to honor his memory ) I personally don't think he would have cared for his first name ( Enzo ) being on one of his firm's sports cars.

So because the Cayenne is one of Porsches biggest sellers I now have to like it? Give me a break mmarshall.
When did you like a vehicle primarily because of it's sales success?
Ofcourse it does not matter what I or anyone else feels about such vehicles from companies that are known for making some of the best sports cars in the world.
In the end the bean counters of such companies will decide what the company makes. However just like you have an opinion, I also have an opinion and for the record, I still hate the Cayenne as much as I did when I first laid eyes on it.
I guess Ferrari feels the need to compete with the Cayenne and the upcoming SUV from Lamborghini...............
[QUOTE=PhilipMSPT]Doesn't that car look a little too "Asian" for an Italian carmaker?
Totally true! Those 'characteristic' headlights belong in a cartoon.
If Ferrari makes an SUV, it will probably sell as well as the Cayenne. It wall probably be fast
as stink too. I'm not a big fan of the Cayenne, but it's more cars for people to choose from and
it's good that car companies are continually pushing boundaries in design and egineering.
To hell with heritage I say as long as these cars kick a**.

:
I'm not sure what you mean by " give me a break ". I wasn't saying you...or anyone else.....had to like it, nor was I trying to be offensive. I myself don't particularly like the idea of either Porsche or Ferrari SUV's.......but there is no denying it was a smart move for Porsche, market-wise. Time will tell with the Ferrari.
And.....no, I don't just judge a vehicle by its sales successes. My reviews should show you that.
