Toyota won't build Lexus plant in Europe after all
Posted May 15th 2006 2:24PM
Toyota has denied an Automotive News Europe claim that the automaker has plans to build a Lexus plant in Germany or France, which would help supply Lexus with the 100,000 cars it plans to sell in Europe by 2015. The company has also denied a report by Automobilewoche, a German-language sister publication of ANE. Automobilewoche quoted a high-ranking Toyota official as saying that a European plant would supply the continent with both Lexus and Toyota-badged vehicles, supporting 2,000 new jobs and supplying an investment of $1.03 billion in the region.

agree, they are hitting big time here in the US so i think they should focus on here first, build it up even further and stronger before they get greedy on european market
The biggest problems with building an auto plant in Europe are labor costs, unions, government regulations and land costs. It probably doesn't make any sense at all.
But they do need to increase production of the new Lexus models. That will help to reduce time it takes to get a car you ordered and will put more supplies on dealer lots.

especially not for 100,000 vehicles by 2015, doesnt seem worth it
