It's still a very ugly car, even with a v-8

Mike, I hope this person isn't your friend ... friends don't let friends buy Monte Carlos.

Honestly though, for an MSRP of over $27,000 for the SS trim (V8) w/ cloth interior, there are quite a few other cars that start coming to mind ... like WRX if you want performance or TSX if you want entry-luxury.

For $27,000 I'd be looking more at an EVO for a tad more; WRXs go for a lot less than $27,000.

It's true you can get some more performance-oriented cars for the same money, but they don't have that throaty V8 rumble. There's just something about a V8 that can't ever be replaced by a 4 or a 6.

The looks of the car are just too bland. Alot of Chevy's have the same front fascia. Moneto Carlo, Impala, Malibu.

Alright, first things first, the guy is a friend, but I met through another friend. In talking with him though, he does know about cars, so it was an educated purchase.

First, Chevy has cleaned up the look up front, its very bland but at least not ugly like before. The sides are still horrible but with the new 17" big dish 5 spoke wheels (think old AMG style) it does help with the looks. The rear is horrible.

Overall, still one ugly car.

It had keyless start and IMO, a nice rumble from the engine/exhaust, clearly you can tell it is a V-8. IMO sounded pretty damn good to me, I am sure some flowmasters would open it up more.

Inside is a great improvement, the plastics are a step up and more dark grey/black than that usual GM "please kill me" grey. The seats are wide and better than before. The dash is much more simple.

Its a big car, tons of room up front. You also can tell from the outside its a big car.

And driving this coupe, it drives like a bigger car. Ponderous. Not clumsy but you won't win any handling awards with it. Tires squeal to hang on.

It has EXCELLENT pickup, very swift, I can see 0-60 in high 5s or low 6s. Torque steer for some reason wasn't as apparent as I thought it would be.

Again, even in pickup, you feel the heft. The brakes are not exactly confidence inspriring.

Visibility is poor for a coupe, I couldn't see crap out the back. Sitting in it, you really can't tell your in a coupe.

Overall sticker was 27k which is not a bad price. There just are not many large V-8 coupes, even if its FWD. Not everyone wants a small EVO or sedan.

And yes, it did have "American Revolution" stickers on the windshield.

u dont have to have a small fast car for that price, for that price you could go pickup a Holden Monaro (if they were sold) or just settle for a Pontiac GTO nicely equipped with an MSRP of ~$33,000 BEFORE incentives.
