Not just for desperate housewives or Birkenstock wearers anymore: The Volvo XC90 SE Sport model is full of life force, from its 315-hp V8 to its Pirelli P Zero tires.

LONDON — Volvo is unveiling a new SE Sport version of the XC90 utility vehicle here at the British International Motor Show.
But perhaps of more interest to U.S. readers, Volvo officials told Inside Line that the 2007 XC90 SE Sport should arrive in U.S. showrooms by the end of the year.
The package provides more dynamic chassis settings, including firmer shocks, stiffer stabilizer bars, and sport-tuned variable-assist steering. The XC90 SE Sport also will feature sport seats and unique interior trim, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Rosso performance tires.
European customers can choose from a 315-horsepower 4.4-liter V8, a 238-hp 3.2-liter V6, and a 185-hp 2.4-liter inline five-cylinder turbodiesel. The V8 can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. All three engines are offered with a six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.
Volvo will announce U.S. prices in the fall.
