On July 31, 2006, Nissan trademarked the following:

M40
M50
M55
M60

This follows on the heels of the trademarking of "FX50" in April 2006. Which followed on the heels of "G37, FX37, and M35" in January 2006.

So, it looks like there is definitely a new or revised V8 engine in the works.

My guesses:

2008 G37 coupe w/ 325 hp
2008 M37 sedan w/ 325 hp
2008 M50 sedan w/ 400 hp
2009 M60 sedan w/ 500 hp (presumably to go up against the M5 and E63, but I don't think it'll happen)

The M40 trademark is interesting. It could be possible that the M will get a 4.0L V6, but I doubt it. I think they just trademarked it with the "throw in the kitchen sink" mentality.

Don't tease the Infiniti engineers and upper management who lurk here into thinking there's actually a market for a 6L V8/V10 powered Q car... that's just mean.

:D

The Q is dead. It is the ultimate clown car. I feel bad for the Q. It never really took off and fell so behind the LS...

that's what made it sad. i don't really mind if my post actually trigger the nissan people to make the q again.

it's just sad and silly when you have to cancel your flagship car? i mean, it's your flagship! that's what supposed to go out and make a statement for your brand...... the success of the infiniti M is one thing, but the falling of q, what a shame...

and seeing them trademarking like crazy here, just make the Q come back again

I think the next Q should be a 4 door "coupe" like the Merc CLS. Just make it amazing looking both inside and out please!

Its weird how the Q did so badly here in the US and in canada but does fine wherever else it's sold. Maybe marketing was bad? And the front end does look weird

Ain't a M60 a gun?

LOL, this is way too funny :D i thought about the same thing too. nissan can't get any closer to the m power and the amg than this man....

You have to admit though... the Q45 and the old M45 are killer deals in the used car market. Lot of car for your money.

bad resale value is not a good thing for new car buyers though, so i think it's two face

Oh yea, it's definately a horrible thing for new car buyers. That's why i would try to be on the other end of that and pick up someone's mistake. :D :D :D

I made a thread about that....INCREDIBLE deals, we aer talking 2002-2004 Q45s/M45s loaded for low 20s. That is a ridiculous buy! Sucks for the 12 people that bought them new though :D

true, comparing to say comparable lexus, they are selling for much higher price. i really wonder why the resale of some infiniti are so bad.... i still remember quite a while back when i saw the price of the old q45 selling for just 4k (reasonable condition and mileage), i was like wtf?! whereas finding a ls400 at that price definitely isn't easy (same condition).

which actually kinda told me if i were to get infiniti, i should get a used one for great deal

Regarding the Q45, it's sad when an alleged luxury brand has a flagship that's dead, or as good as dead. I thought the first Q45 was a great car, better than the first LS400, or faster and more exciting anyway, but Infiniti just never established itself as a prestige brand. Too bad that launching a new high end mark like Lexus and Infiniti did in the late 80s is something that one can only do once, so it had to be done right the first time. That Zen like Infiniti ad in which the car was never shown, now that was a silly gamble.
