Anyone seen this car, its looks just like an Astin Marton. Does Ford own Astin Marton too?
What do you all think?

Jag and Astin's are the same company... all owned by ford.

Wish they would redesign the front headlights... and make them less ford looking.

I believe the guy who designed the new XK used to design for Aston, hence the similar lines.

Very good lines IMHO.

Pure sex. Quickly becoming my favorite coupe on the road currently. I snap my neck around everytime I see one.

What is that stripe deal near the door?

What is that stripe deal near the door?

It's a "vent" w/ a chrome applique cover.

I think it's cheesy along w/ the Taurus headlights.

Otherwise it's a gorgeous car.

I think the front end could be a little better but I like the overall look of the car. My problem with it is the price. 70-80K for a car with 300hp doesn't make sense to me. Why would someone pay that much for 300hp? If it was a whole lot lighter then the 300hp would give it a lot more speed. I'd get a vette over this car and save some bucks and get a faster better looking car. Heck, I'd get my G35 over this car. Take the extra cash and buy a daily driver....or some really seriously sweet mods. Like HRE's and a kit...then keep the change.

I think it looks gorgous 90% of the time. A lil scared by the Home Depot mesh but otherwise, I think its fantastic!!

No stick offered but I don't think Jag buyers want a stick.

What a coupe

Agreed......and to think that Ford wants to toss this company to the wolves. :egads:
( You and I discussed the matter of Mitsubishi or Isuzu being the next company to fold but it looks like it might be Jag instead ).

That silly J-Gate automatic shifter made a lot of Jag owners think otherwise. Fortunately, Jag is finally tossing that thing out.

My thoughts exactly...especially since I'm considering an 00+ C5. :D I'd guess the $$ premium is placed on the "luxury" factor of the Jag vs. the sportiness of the Vette though. :uh:

I do like the Jag lines/design but that price tag coupled with their reliability perception and lack of power is questionable.

The pics above are of the XKR. It has 420 horepower, not 300. The J-gate shifter remains, but there are paddle mount shifters on the steering wheel for an auto-manual effect complete with throttle blips on downshift.

Always like the looks of the XKR better, with it's mesh grille. Not a fan of the grille of the current XK8 but this looks a lot better to me

Jaguar North America chose the upmarket automotive aura surrounding Pebble Beach this weekend to announce the U.S. pricing for its new supercharged 2007 XKR Coupe and Convertible.

Pricing for the Coupe will start at $86,500, while the Convertible version starts at $92,500.

In Thursday's announcement, the 420 hp XKR models were described as, "sensational cars to drive that define the road...the 2007 XKR provides those who have an affinity for power and luxury, the combination of exhilaration and refinement."

Standard XKR features include:

enhanced ride and handling via uprated springs and dampers, plus a recalibrated active technology suspension system
six-speed automatic with paddle shifters ("shifts in milliseconds")

the aforementioned supercharged V8, good for 0-60 in 4.9 seconds
an Active Exhaust System - quiet at cruise, but pleasingly loud under hard acceleration
unique styling features
unique aluminum "weave" design interior trim (more traditional Poplar or Walnut veneer trim is a no-cost option)

performance brakes
'R' sports seats
19-inch wheels
adaptive front lighting

XKR options include a Luxury Package at $2,100 (upgraded leather, 16-way power seats, leather-trimmed instrument panel), a Premium Sound Package at $1,875 (Alpine 525-watt, 8-speaker system with SIRIUS satellite radio), and a radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control system at $2,200.

Depends on where you are. Out here in the boonies, I see a lot more Jags per capita than I did in the DC area. Maybe even in absolute numbers... :eek2:

Atlanta doesn't rock the Jags...Hell looking at sales no one really does.

And is it me or there has been no or minimal advertising for the new Jag? And then when I do see an ad, its some dumbass Infiniti 1990 crap where they show people getting married or people eating and nothing of the damn car?

Idiots.

I have never seen a TV ad but I don't watch T.V much. The print ads are ridiculous.

Heh, the TV ads are more of the same, just longer and with music. :p

You don't watch pre-season football? Law & Order and Without a Trace? Monk, Psych, and House? What's wrong with you; do you have a life or something?

I simply LOVE that interior. Gone is the one that was all wood and replaced by something that is much classier (IMHO). THIS is a car I could consider (in 14 years when I don't have to cart kids around any more).

I still say they are too expensive for the power you get. The www.jaguarusa.com site says the XK starts at $75,500. That's for 300 hp. That's just dumb imo. The XKR is 86K for 420hp, that even dumber. Remember, this is a glorified Ford we're talking about. Can't you get an SL with over 400hp for 90K? I would rather get that Maserati coupe. It's around 90K with a little over 300hp but it's a baby Ferrari with exotic pedigree. Then there's the Bently GT for around 90K with over 400hp. Again, pedigree.

You have to remember that Jags are some of the lightest cars made (in their class) - if not the lightest. I did not check the specs on these new ones, but I seem to remember they are about the same weight as the old ones if not lighter.

C6 Z06 > This Jag

pricewise + performance > less-performance + more "luxury"

:uh: Something tells me these cars are not cross shopped much. Also they are so different that I really don't see how your equation even applies.

I went to the local Jag dealer to get some shots and check the real prices. I was shocked to see the top of the line cost almost 100K. I don't see it. In person it is a beautiful car but I didn't feel it's worth the price. I'd put it at 50K for the base and maybe 70K for the top model. Here's some pics:

I agree. I think the XK would be more comparble to an SL or SC, but definately not a C6 Z06.

I understand that there is a sense of sportiness to the XK, but it ain't about the sport. The Corvette stands on a different pedestal...
