Thinking About Selling The SC...CAR HELP!!!
Awesome car, I am sad even to think about selling it, but I have to be practical and use my money wisely and also insurance for everything and I am the owner for the car and I have the good grades discount is still about $3100 a year, and I only had one accident (not at fault) and no tickets.
1994 SC400
black/cream
90K miles
great condition
tints
real nice setup for audio
JL W6 sub, All Alpine components , etc.
I am probably going to take out the system.
Selling Price?
I was thinking 8-9K without system.
Even if not, my dad will buy it from me, and then Ill have 8-9K to spend on a new (used car).
- great on gas
- stick or auto(doesn't matter)
- quick
- sleek
- etc
Some Choices : Older Body GS, SC3 5speed, MR2, Eclipse GS-T, ...
I am stumped.....
PLEASE HELP ME FIND THE BEST CAR FOR THE PRICE RANGE (8-9K)!!!
YOUR HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

2nd: Keep the SC and try to cut down on other expenses in your life.
If you do decide to sell the SC because of finanacial reasons, I don't see how those other cars on your list will end up saving you any money.

lol, I am pretty sure I would die.

Yeah, I know those cars in my range suck, but those are the type of cars I like.
anything else?
camrys? civics? good four door?

When it comes time to sell it, I praise the Toyota resale. But when it comes to buying one, **** IT!!!!

I saw those '02 SEs with about 60-70k miles and they were going for 10k+ still!!
insurance while i had it was extremely cheap and you still get to carry the lexus nameplate. durable car with all the abuse it took for 100k+ miles and still kicking strong.
Assuming your drive 15K mi. a year, at 20mpg that's 750 gallons. At $2.50/gallon that's $1875/yr on gas - so gas is definitely not your biggest problem!
You need to find a car a lot more 'boring' to drive, that's cheaper to insure.
My vote: a Lexus ES. It will still feel similar to your SC inside, even though it won't be as much fun to drive. It should cost a LOAD less to insure.
I'm doing that right now and full coverage is $1200/year (99' GS400). Something is definteily wrong with your insurance policy, unless you went with a baller coverage. lol.
It doesn't seem like any car you listed will get better mileage than the SC. If you want to get decent mileage, you're most likely going to have to give up the luxury brands and the sports cars (especially if you're looking for a car under 10k).
Since insurance won't change and gas prices are coming down, you might want to hold onto the SC for a bit. I would suggest you do the math and calculate what you would save, in today's gas prices, if you get a car that gets 25 - 30 mpg. If the range sounds like its worth it then do the change.
As a younger person, I find the recent Mazda lineups appealing. I don't see myself driving an accord/civic or a corolla/camry yet, not to mention the aforementioned fact that their resale value is stinking high. Good luck with your search.
