Subject to recall are 54,217 vehicles in two models, including the Harrier sport utility vehicle. The vehicles have a defect that can cause the engine's computer control system to operate incorrectly and possibly catch fire, Kyodo said.

I think the Toyota Harrier is equivalent to the Lexus RX330 sold in the US

It's not the equivalent. It's the same car. (except for right hand drive)

Well they said none were exported (though I do know there are gray market sales). They mentioned it was related to those manufactured between December 1997 to November 2000.
I am also curious as to which engine configurations since we only get the 1MZFE engine here in this hemisphere.

Toyota Harrier has been sold in Japan & Hong Kong. I think the model for 1997 to 2000 has 2 engines to choose: 2.4L L4 & 3.0 V6. The 3.0 V6 model is the same as the RX300.

What about the ES300? Isn't it the same engine there too?

The ES always has the same engine as the RX...but the ES(Windom) has only 1 option, while the Harrier has 2 options(except the hybrid)...
