I don't think that is a good idea. I for one won't sign it.

Plates are good for identification. Too many people out there take advantage of certain situations and break the law, which may cause harm to others.

Keep the plates. Let cars (and their owners) be easily identified.

It's not about aesthetics. It's about security...

I never thought front license plates are always that bad aesthetically, depending on the car. Actually, there are some that looks better with it, the new Audi's for example, especially with European brackets . . .

God bless the person who started this petition. Now we need a petition to call for allowing tints for the front windows and a petition to raise the speed limit to 100mph.

Funny... none of my cars have front plates and haven't ever had them... two of three have the front windshields tinted :D

Back to the "petition"... good luck with that, never gonna even come close to happening. It will never even be a blip on the radar of the lawmakers..

Agreed. :D

Sadly, I have to agree with you. But what kind of democracy are we living in? If we elected those lawmakers, shouldn't they do what we ask? Who asked them to make a law requiring front license plates? Their constituents? Don't think so.

Is that your bike in your sig? You should put a plate on the front of that, too. Would be more secure, no?

Hehe when we had our ES in the early 90's we got away with no front plates--didn't have the holes drilled in and didn't know that we had to.

Well, perhaps your views ( and the views of the poster who wants deep-tint windshields and a 100 MPH limit ) may not be indicative of the public as a whole....I guess you'll find out if and when the petition circulates.

They certainly don't represent the view of many police departments and others in law-enforcement, who have to deal daily with people who use vehicles to commit crimes. And, driving, legally, in all 50 states, is a privliedge, not a right......even in a democracy....subject to obedience of traffic and DMV laws.

However, I DO agree with you on one thing. Laws CAN be changed if enough people want it, and you are at least doing it the right way:thumbup: .....formally and respectfully ASKING CA legislators to change them, instead of doing what so many other people are doing.......just saying " f*** it.....I'll do as I please ".

Hey...it was a petition just a few years ago that got rid of that idiot Governor Gray Davis....the guy before Schwarzneggar.

Where can I start a petition to make front licence plate mandatory as the law states and those who don't follow the clearly stated law should receive a death penalty?

I just don't understand those people who put a european licence plate in the front of their cars. Do they know that they are living in the USA?

And I am always happy to hear stories about getting tickets because they don't have the front licence plate.

Nice... :D

I realize that bikes can break the law as easily as a car.

However, a car can do much more damage than a motorcycle when it comes to harming someone else, whether it's from running a red light or speeding at 100mph. If an accident occurs, a car can do a "hit and run" more easily. If a motorcycle accident occurs, that motorcycle is down, with no easy escape...

Front license plate law doesn't mean much to me. I've been driving w/out a front plate for years now. I've only been cited once and it was a 10$ 'fix-it' ticket, although I've heard that has changed in the past few yrs. Anyhow, last time I got puled over for it was about 3-4yrs ago and I gave the cop an excuse of how I just detailed the car and forgot to put it on. :D
