1SICKLEX 01-07-07, 11:10 PM Outside the giant Escalade grill, looks just like the old one.
New interior looks very good, though gauges look exactly like the RX 330/350/400h....
Sigh, I see another car with a knob.....
Bottom line, I expect it to continue to sell very well for Caddy!

Looks pretty good, much better then the current model inside and out. Hopefully it will make it to production looking just like this and not get watered down like most decent looking GM designs

Watered down? This is the actual car, not a concept.
It looks good! really good! way to go GM!
Caddies are so freaking ugly. I'd be embarassed to get into that car to take a crap inside, never mind driving one.
mavericck 01-08-07, 12:54 AM That looks fantastic! The front grille reminds me of Audi and it looks like Caddy actually has a decent interior this time around, although they need to change the plastic on the center piece of the steering wheel. I just hope they keep wood out of the car, I hate wood in cars unless they are Roller, Bentleys, or Maybachs.

wow...biased a bit?
LexusChris 01-08-07, 02:03 AM Looks pretty good I must say.
I think they should have keyless go and the power tilt\telescopic wheel though.
94lex83457 01-08-07, 02:28 AM The interior is leaps and bounds better compared to older models, but that grill.....gross. I know cadillac has tried very hard to revamp thier image (and the XLR, and XRS look damn fine) but it still has the lines of an 80's or 90's caddie that to me screams: I'M A GERIATRIC. It is sporty and aggressive and i'll give GM props, but they have to clean it up.
texan629 01-08-07, 08:13 AM Looks great, hopefully this will help cadillac steal some sales from foreign cars.

I want to say the CTS sells well for Caddy. I just don't think it is going to attract many foreign car buyers. It will sell well to its target market.
PhilipMSPT 01-08-07, 09:29 AM Looks good. I like it, especially the interior; it's cleaner looking, except for the cheese-grater grill.
Mr. Jones 01-08-07, 01:09 PM It looks good, clearly American luxury, but I doubt it will appeal to many import oriented buyers.
Looks like entry-level sport sedans will now all feature 300hp+
:woohoo:
Pearlpower 01-08-07, 01:18 PM Looks good to me. Still, I cannot find myself in a Caddi anytime soon, but in 90-100 years from now perhaps.
The interior looks better than anything else in the entry level luxury class right now, IMO, and that includes the ES and IS. VERY sharp looking car.
I can't wait to see if the new CTS-V brings us the 505hp LS7 or the 650hp LS9.
Im really liking that front end, but now I know why they never showed preview pics of the rest of the car. It looks exactly the same!! :egads:
Though the grill is HUGE, Im loving it. Big grills is like the new trend. Every car company wants you to recognize there cars by just the grill alone these days (you'll be able to spot this car a mile away which is a good thing for them). This grill surely is bold and it does make a statement.
The interior I think is great. I dont necessarily think its best in class design wise (though its up there), but the fact that they are using Leather on the dash and real metals and wood to dress up the interior is big plus in book.
2008 CTS 3872 lbs(4101 lbs AWD)
Someone posted the weight on another forum. The weight of this car clearly does not compete with the rest of its main competition. That is GS430 weight!!! LS430 weight!!!
Sigh, I guess the new CTS having 300hp doesnt matter much anymore now that it will weight about 500lbs more than the rest of the comp.
Maybe those rumors of the new CTS going to the mid luxury class are true after all.

rosskoss 01-08-07, 04:00 PM It looks like Cadillac is back....and in style! Design language is pure Cadillac, only this time, the execution is perfect.

sdbrandon 01-08-07, 04:03 PM Wow, the dash looks very Japanese. Acura or Infiniti come to mind.
sdbrandon 01-08-07, 04:05 PM The side shot looks like a Lexus. IS previous gen.
Cadillac is really doing a nice job lately.
V8 engine, manual transmission, and lots of room.
i wonder how quick it's going to be. Isn't aisin tranny made by toyota? If cts is using the aisin 6spd manual, why can toyota use it in is?
1SICKLEX 01-10-07, 10:35 PM Very evolutionary outside the giant grill. Reminds me of what Infiniti just did with the G35, touch up here and there.
I think they did a good job. Interior is 10 times better, but the wood inside makes me cringe.
javyLSU 01-11-07, 12:01 AM http://www.automobilemag.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0701_c+2008_cadillac_cts+8.jpg
If that steering wheel had a space bar it could pass as a keyboard it's got so many buttons on it...
Javier
Man, I really want that car. I liked the older one, but this one is sooo sporty.
Hummm, that or the M45????? decisions, decisions...
MikeSC4 01-11-07, 12:28 AM Hmm... I'm starting to warm up to Caddy. Didn't like the first CTS, but loved the STS. This car now looks more like an STS. I could see myself in this should I want a sedan in the future.
tmf2004 01-11-07, 07:46 AM Looks good. I've been a fan of the CTS for awhile.. I wonder how the reliability is on these cars? Way to go GM for a great looking car..

Consumer Reports rates the CTS's reliability as "average", and gives it a rating of 74 (whatever that means). The highest rated car in that segment/class got a 90.
mmarshall 01-11-07, 09:51 AM Looks good to me. Still, I cannot find myself in a Caddi anytime soon, but in 90-100 years from now perhaps.
Why NOT, if you like the car? Forget Caddy's geezer image and buy one. Those days are going away anyway.....Cadillacs aren't just for grandpa anymore.

Now THIS is the interior that the car SHOULD have gotten when it was first introduced, and didn't. The interior on the first CTS was so stark and cheap it was, IMO, an insult.

I agree, the lines between cars for old and young people is getting blurred. I'm seeing younger drivers in Avalons which was the classic geezer mobile before the new gen came out. The new ES 350 is attracting younger buyers too. I've also read that older buyers are snapping up Scions and Honda Elements, go figure. I guess a good car is a good car no matter ones age.
Well, it certainly does appeal to me. This new model really does look much better than the old one. The interior is no comparison. I had the V6 CTS for a week as a rental and it drives and handles quite well. The interior however, was a real turnoff. With new sheetmetal and a new, more luxurious interior, it should sell well. I think it does appeal to import oriented buyers, cause I'm one of them and I will give this car serious thought.
