Exclamation Current Audi A8= Design Perfection

I happened to be looking at one Friday and IMO, the proportions, the stance, the lack or random lines, is refreshing and WONDERFUL. In a world where is seems designers think you have to tell EVERYONE you drive a luxury car with huge badges, wheel arches, crazy lines all over the car and things just not matching with backpack trunks, it is amazing to see the A8 in person.

You look at it, and you KNOW it is something, even if you are not sure what it is. Now I am partial to the A8 without the giant grill but even with the giant grill, it looks "right" b/c of the SIZE of the A8.

The rear tailights, simple, yet effective. The wheels, the 5 spokes, thick and purposeful. I usually don't like cars with a large front overhang but somehow, Audi designers got it right. The doors are LONG, especially the rear one but it looks right (similar to how the long wheelbase LS/S/7 does look "better" than the regular ones).

The windows seem to be the perfect size with good visibility and the waistline of the A8 is not high like all new cars today.

Lexus took the "Audi"ish route with the LS and I am glad for it. It might be a standout for Lexus but overall, breaks little new ground. The 7 and S clearly, many love for their new outragous style, which I "understand" more but I am predicting will age very very poorly.

Pics to come, unless someone wants to start the party

I agree - however, when on road, you dont notice any of the subtle details and it looks bland.

Now, A6 is the opposite - presence on the road, and pretty poor details when sitting.

2004 A4 still the greatest Audi design, subtle kits make it best looking car of the century...

i do as well like the A4, especially when its a rs4 or s4, both are hot, and i do love the A8, and that particular model shown, i think its the S8, is pure sexy, even if its not a S8, that ?8 is just simply hot, i'll get a LS before i get that but that would be second on the list. Audi would have to be my 2nd favorite luxury brand, Lexus of course being 1

A/S8 is one car that I'd buy regardless of how often I'd be watching traffic fly past me from the side of the road. Hope the next generation of it looks as good!

I wonder how Wolfgang Bernhardt is affecting QI initiatives over there.

They are actually a lot more reliable than CR would have you believe. I doubt you'd ever be on the side of the road unless you had a blowout.

I think it's a great looking car, a little bit too bland for my tastes, but still very nice.

It's funny because I think the old A8 was one of the ugliest luxury cars in recent memory. And the newer one doesn't look all that different, but somehow they improved it incredibly without making many really major changes

For what you get in terms of price and features, it is very nice. Always beautiful to see, especially down here where it is rare purchase.

Yes, that's a W12 too It looks a little ugly without a front license plate on that big grille though ( I think it looks best with a Euro plate, not bare), otherwise, it's close to perfect.
