Maybe Mike or MMarshall can clarify this but is the new M3 going to have 426hp and be priced in the mid 50s?

Doesn't the IS-F have 430hp?

http://www.lexus.com/fcv/is_f.html just says more than 400hp.

Seeing how there will be 1000 IS-F's... and I've heard the price will also be under 60k$, the BMW is going to have to be either much more sharper of a knife (more raw of a car to compete in a different, more performance oriented category that Lexus can't touch) or will have to be a god-car to outpreform, especially considering the C63.

Some folks here have the 08 M3 as loaners already:p Seriously, I spoke to my salesman last week about this car over the phone. He told me this M3 will have 400 hp and use the v8 from the last gen m5.

Your salesman is clueless. The V-8 going in the new M3 will not be the old M5 unit and be an all new engine.

We have no idea what power figures will be. I figure right around 400hp, which is a big jump from the 333hp now (it will probably weigh more) and the 360hp in the M3 CSL we don't get.

The RS4 has 420hp (Audi).

Gosh it was nice.Indeed it was.. The V8 in the new M3 will incorporate a new double vanos design, but will have the soul of the old gem.

You'd have to live in a cave to tell someone its the same engine as the previous gen M5. It's a laugh to hear some of the words that come out of salesmans mouths.

Its not like this is top secret information one minute search on the net will tell him it's a different engine.

The new M3 will have an semi-all new V8.

They are taking the V10 in the M5/6 and cutting off a bank of cylinders. That is the truth. Not sure what your dealer is thinking. :dunno:
