Weber Sportcars unveiled a 250 mph, carbon fiber supercar that is shaped largely by aerodynamics. After nine months of computer-aided design, they were able to make a full size model of what the final shape might look like. Included is an active rear wing that changes in angle for both acceleration and braking.

Acceleration 0-100 km/h, 0-62 mp/h 2.5 sec.
Maximum G-Force 1.1g
Top Speed 400+ km/h, 249+ mp/h
The most important characteristics and our philosophy are:

Intelligent 4-wheel drive
Chassis from high-strength airplane aluminum
Body completely made of carbon
Sequential, semi-automated transmission
All vehicle parts are in-house design, weight and achievement optimized by means of calculations and FEM analyses .

Basic components:

A variety of additional sensors for professional race application to determine optimum performance of aero – suspension – cooling – engine – gearbox and tyres.
Optional telemetry and radio system.

Aerodynamics

The aerodynamic tuning is probably the most important thing from a super sportscar. Our technicians have spent a long time with the optimism. Over a period of nine months new models were designed again and again. The perfect result can be showed! Reaching the finale speed of over 400 km/h is guaranteed. Important in this case are those contact pressure in the front and in the rear, so that the vehicle remains stable at the street. The engine and transmission interpretation were determined due to these dates. We have a power reserve of 15%, in order to reach the final speed.

The adaptive wing is constructed for excellent acceleration and for best results by braking.

In slow motion is the rear spoiler retracted and will be extended during acceleration.. The position of the spoiler is variable and is affected by the car condition. The rear spoiler will be in a vertical position during the breaking process. The maximum breakpower will be 4’000 N which the car will reach additional.source : topspeed

It is like they badly morphed the front of an Amanti with the rear of an RX7.

Ugh... someone went to town with an ugly stick! :egads: And I see the editors can't even spell "hydraulic" or use the term "braking" correctly... not good for a press release.

I think Weber should stick to their core competency: bbq grills. j/k

u-g-l-y i don't really care how fast that thing can go.

I doubt it would be able to reach 250... it doesn't have the areodynamics capable of that... Look at all the other cars that have come close to 250... and the one thing they have in common is shape... not to mention ungodly amounts of power.

I think you're missing the point. This car is ALL about areodynamics. Every other car has to balance areodynamics with styling. The engineers of this car were obviously not worried about styling, it looks like they tried to make the shape as areodynamically efficient as possible

Actually...

The front of the car doesn't look very aerodynamic at all. Besides the enormous BMW like grill, the front of the car remains flat.

However, aerodynamics and power don't matter. What's the point of making the car all about aerodynamics and speed when it's so ugly that no one will buy it?

I agree with you 100%

I stared at this vehice for a few minutes before making my earlier comment and I can't even figure the 'styling' part.

GOD-DAMN is ugly, even with 250mph is still ugly.:thumbdn:

the whole design based on a matchbox styling. The grill grill and the back come from the BMW Z4. The headlights come from the current C class.

What 'looks' aerodynamic isn't always what is aerodynamic in reality. The front end might look blunt, but maybe that's actually the best shape aerodynamically. I'm not a physicist so I can't say definitively, but I highly doubt they would have made the car look like that if it wasn't the best possible aerodynamic shape

we can save the headlights but everything else has to go,

btw, do they think at that speed you dont need to see behind you? because the rear window is covered

I'm not even that proficient when it comes to aerodynamics, but even I know that shape is NOT the best in terms of aerodynamic efficiency. Generally speaking a "tear-drop" exterior shape is regarded as being the most aerodynamically efficient.

That's not to say that you can't achieve a top speed in the 250mph range with the aerodynamics of a brick wall. All sorts of vehicles constantly try to set speed records on salt flats. I've seen trucks hit 250mph, but those things had well over 10,000 HP.

HAHAHA :D :D

I would not want to go 250mph in that thing, a little side wind the whole body panel will probably rip right off.

"The aerodynamic tuning is probably the most important thing from a super sportscar. Our technicians have spent a long time with the optimism."Overly optimistic, if you ask me . . .

See what happens when you listen to those voices in your head?

"Aww, come on Earl, ask her to say 'moose and squirrel'!" :p

The shape doesn't look aerodynamic to me either, but I've learned that in science what's intuitive isn't always how nature works. And aerodynamics isn't entirely about top speed, they also have to be concerned with high speed stability, downforce, etc.

And think about it this way, why ELSE would they make the car look like that?

Wow what a fricken ugly car.

LOL!

ugly car indeed. I don't think that car will get sold many due to an ugly design.

Oh yeah.... the Italian made Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is more like it... Still, has a little bit of odd looking design but it's an art! Designed and built with passion. That car is ridiculously fast.... tops out at 253 mph.

Another contender, Koenigsegg CCXR, which has 1018 HP, tops out at impressive 249 mph. http://autoreview.belproject.com/item/350 This car eats McLaren F1 for lunch.. :D but get ass handed out by that Italian monster super car Veyron, well, by slightly.
