Based on what? They are every bit as luxurious as any Lexus.
I love many of Lexus' tech innovations (the commercial about thier pre-accident technology is great) but that whole self-parking thing is just, well, silly. Other car makers should be taking shots at that feature.
1) I am a marketing major and as I've stated before, the number one "no-no" of promoting luxury goods is acknowledging your competitors. By lending them that credence, you indeed insinuate that others create products that are at least as good as yours. In fact, ads like these truthfully create an aura of inadequacy as they feel the need to show off and smirk at competing brands and models in a markedly immature way.
2) Nice how they parked it between an LS 460 and IS 350.

I agree somewhat, but Audi is acknowledging the LS460 in an A4 ad. The two cars are in completely different classes. If this was an A8 ad I think you would have more of a valid point. Audi (and presumably everybody else) knows the LS460 is a 'better' (or at least in a higher class) car than the A4
At least its not as bad as those Hyundai ads comparing a Sonata to a 5 series. Those ads offend me in their stupidity

The A4 is the size of a Civic. Part of luxury is SIZE. To compare the A4 to the LS is a stretch...
MPLexus301 is right; the fact that Audi even acknowledged Lexus indicates that Lexus is a real threat. Disparaging a competitor is not flattering, either.
I love these kinds of commercials. Regardless of who puts out the ad, I always enjoy watching it.
reminds me of the time when bmw and audi took stabs at each other with their poster commercials, and then out of no where subaru took a stab at both companies with their impreza sti.

PART of luxury is size. It is not the whole equation. So what does this say about the IS, BMW 3 and so on. Noone is going to say those are not small luxury sedans. But wait. The A8 is a large as the LS460. So Audi is not luxurious? So the only Luxury car in Lexus' line up is the GS, no, the ES, no the LS? You logic is all over the place.
They are not comparing the A4 to the LS. They are making a statement about drivers and tying to appeal to those who wanty to enjoy being in control of the car, not the other way oaround. Audi is saying it's more fun to drive the car yourself than have your driving (and parking abilities) castrated by the car itself.
I read online that this ad may be pulled for encouraging risky driving.
It's funny, first Hyundai and now Audi are reacting to the Lexus parking ad. Hehe. And in both cases the LS 460 gets some nice screentime. Even if the commercial is kinda crass.
