2009 Hyundai Genesis new spy photos:
Here are the latest spy photos of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. After the unveiling of the concept at the 2007 New York Auto Show, work on the production cars is in full swing. We showed you spy video of similar prototypes weeks ago and these new shots don't appear to reveal anything new. Expect to see the final version of this rear wheel drive luxury sedan early next year with sales beginning in the fall of 2008.
I think that Hyundai should be taken seriously, considering how much they have improved over the last decade. They are aiming to steal some customers from Toyota and Lexus. David and Goliath (Lexus and MB of the 90s) may yet be repeated.
Personally, if Hyundai gets the Genesis's suspension right (firm and controlled), the weight of the car under 4000 lbs, and if they offer moderate level of standard equipment with a V8 at $30K, I would give them serious consideration.

The latest Automobile Magazine compares the interior fit and finish of the new Veracruz to a Lexus product and basically say that if they are able to deliver that in a sub-30k crossover then look out with what they do in the Genesis.
People and the American car industry used to scoff at Toyotas and Hondas once upon a time.

We bring you exclusive spyshots of Hyundai's new RWD premium sedan, Genesis. Hyundai unveiled the Genesis Concept at the Big Apple this year, which was a preview of Hyundai's new RWD premium-segment fighter. The Genesis will be powered by a 3.8L Lambda V6 powering around 260-280hp and an optional 4.6L Tau V8 powering around 340hp. The Genesis will feature many luxury goodies such as Smart-Key access, navigation system and Bluetooth.
These shots prominently reveal the Genesis's grille, something we've been anticipating to see since first prototype mules were spotted in 2006. Looking at these shots, it seems Hyundai ditched the Camry-esque grille in favor of a simpler and more attractive 2-bar grille. We can also vaguely see the headlights and HID (High Intensity Discharge) projectors are visible. The photographer of these shots stated that a smart-key button was visible on the driver's door handle which confirm the Smart-Key access. Some other design cues visible are the attractive dual exhausts and 9-spoke 18" wheels.
Look for the Genesis to go on sale in the US next spring with domestic sales to begin earlier. Follow the jump to view more shots and a hi-res image gallery of the Genesis Concept.

Funny, that was the only car I found interesting at that autoshow. It was like a crossover between Lexus GS/Infiniti M/BMW 5 Series.
That view...... actually looks good. The headlights are definitely a step up, and does seem a good match with the front grill. Overall the design is not as bad as I thought it would be.
The only thing that bothers me is the side window.... that's a complete copy of Nissan Altima.... They could've improved on that...
