Thumbs down Radartest.com/Craig Peterson sabotages Radar Test

Folks over at guysoflidar.com conducted a recent radar detector test and on test day were puzzled by a KA signal that was absent days prior. They decided to hunt down the signal and found a KA gun hidden in the hills with batteries.
On the box was a shipping label to Peterson Publications which is Craig Peterson who also runs Radartest.com and also is a employee of Bell/Escort. Pretty low. I own a 8500 x50 Blue and have a new V1 coming shortly as well. But if I were to purchase a new detector it would not be from radartest.com which does not sell V1 so I wonder what Mr. Peterson was up to. Was he afraid the test would revel shortcomings on detectors he does sell? I will do my own testing and keep what I like and sell the other.

FYI-guysoflidar.com does not sell any detectors unlike most all other so called realistic tests that exist.

See it here.

The test is here.

They could test all they want but I am a V1 fanboy, and proud of it.

Detectors, in many cases, won't save you any more. Police are using aircraft and unmarked cars, more and more, to tail you and get your exact speed, independent of radar and laser.

The only real solution is to slow down. As long as you stay reasonably close to the limit, say, 10-15 MPH over, most cops won't bother to write you up anyway.....they're looking primarily for the 20 MPH-and-over crowd, which in most states is considered reckless diving.

Its funny b/c we have so many threads/posts here saying V1 is not the best and well, it seems you have to cheat to be the best.

So owned, its not even funny!

More and more agencies use detectors these days than before and rely on them for speed traps. Cops are trained to judge speed to a degree and certainly not the distance that radar is capable of tracking which is why they use the gun to begin with.
Fact is detectors can save you in many instances. Better to have SOME protection than none.

I don't see Peterson's side at all on that link which states the following:

This has been a very stressful two weeks for me and my family because of a situation that occurred at the Radarbusters sponsored GOL testing venue.

First let me preface this post by complementing the GOL team and the manufacture representatives that were present and who all acted professionally.

An individual, who also sees themselves as a competitor, attempted to disrupt the test because of their vindictiveness against me and the GoL team. This individual found it necessary to plant one and perhaps three, radar guns in the vicinity of our testing location with the sole intent of disrupting the event.

An exhaustive investigation was started to collect, process and preserve evidence not only to identify the suspect(s), but to also rule out others that could had participated in such a scheme.

Last week I filed a small claims complaint in the Hassayampa Justice Court of Maricopa County Arizona to recover damages caused by the individual I feel was involved.

Today this person was served

My complaint a ledges:

That on or about March 9th, 2007 Craig Peterson placed a radio transmitting device operating on 35.398 on a mountain top west of Vulture Mine Road, approximately sixteen miles south of US 60, with the intent of interfering with police radar. Mr. Peterson’s sole intent as a business competitor was to disrupt a radar detector venue that I was conducting in this same area in which I had paid transportation costs and lodging for participants totaling over $3000.00 Valuable time and resources was also spent my me and other participants to negate and then investigate the radio interference caused by the defendant.

If a verdict is found in my favor, the monies awarded will be donated to the GoL team, for any future test(s) that they may perform.

This message board shall NOT be used in any manner to discuss the merits of the case, the actions of participants and/or of Mr. Peterson nor to discuss the evidence by any member.

Nor shall any member of this board make disparaging posts, remarks against ANY person and/or website that involves this investigation, if you do, you will BE BANNED!

The parties will have an opportunity to have their case heard in a court of law and when a judgment is rendered it will be posted and then your questions and or comments will then be allowed.

I guess it is fortunate that all radar detectors are useless in Hawaii. I don't have to figure out which one is best as they don't work for their intended purpose

I did not post this to be a my detector is better than yours thread-but....I do like my 8500X50 Blue. Issues are the cheasy (and I mean very cheasy) windshield mount and no direct power cord. Once i get my new V1 I will post a comparison but from everything I have read from those in the know and not biased-you cannot go wrong with any of the top dogs.

Incorrect. Many states and localities consider 20 MPH over the posted limit, or faster than 80 regardless of the limit, to be reckless driving. If it was JUST Virginia I would have stated it as such.

You're missing the point. The best protection is to stay within 10 MPH of the limit.........there you're not likely to have any problems at all.
