I was stopped today doing 90 at 65 in my car and the fine is $208.50 (is this the right amount in FL?). This is my first ticket and the FHP said he did not want to cut me a break since a radar detector was in use. Could I please get some opinion on what I should do (fight it, lawyer to reduce the fee, pay it). The thing is, I know I was going a little too fast off I95 but he said I was going 90 and he didn't show me his radar gun. He was traveling the other direction, was he just guessing how fast I was going or could he have just clocked my speed?
BTW what does this mean?
On the ticket it says "Note: if your lisense, registration, tag, insurance was valid at the time of the citation was issued. You may present it within (30) days to clerk of court and the Charge will be dismissed. A fee may be assessed."
I know that there are alot of officers on this site, could you kindly please assist me in my best decision

That's the way the radar works. Either he's standing still and measures the speed or as in your case it shows the speed of vehicles coming at him. You shouldn't have been going so fast. Just pay or ask for traffic school.. I'm retired now, but never lost a radar ticket, come to think of it I don't think I ever lost in traffic court....................

i just pay my speeding tickets, i dont have the time or patience to go stand around at the traffic court over 200.00. My last ticket was 278.00 i paid it, took traffic school and moved on with my life. Speeding is speeding, be it 1 mile over the limit or 20 miles an hour over the limit, if i know i was speeding ill cop to it and man up and pay. If its questionable then ill worry about it. but i would say 208.50 is not bad......
however since he cited you for a specific speed but was headed in the oposite direction i would take it to court and ask him to varify how he was able to clock/radar or pace you going the other direction. It is possible since many of the HP guys use Hawkrader which is front and back looking as well as lasers..... but i would want to know.
contest it. being a former police officer the last thing you want to do is hold roadside court and argue about it, just take the ticket and go to traffic court. make the officer accountable for why he wrote it and how he deduced you were doing 90mph.
the notation about the license and reg being valid is this: some people when stopped dont have it on them, they get a citation for not driving with "proof" which is different then driving without...... that happened to me, i forgot my license once and got a ticket for driving without a license and proof of insurance since i keep my insurance card with my wallet, took it to the court showed proof it was instated and valid at the time of the ticket and the ticket was dismissed.

Well, I was in a similar...but worse situtation a few weeks back. It was 4:45 in the morning and I was on my way home from work on I-95. I got pulled over by a officer (dept. doesn't need to be disclosed). He said I was doing 120 in a 55...which was complete bull. I have an Escort 8500 mind you, but he said he paced me, even wrote paced on the ticket. There is no way on this earth I was doing 120; I'll admit I was speeding (between 95-100), but def not 120. Anyways, the ticket was $307, but like I do with every other ticket, I just gave it to an attorney. So my advice would be to give it to an attorney; they seem to do the trick. Good luck!

There is usually a fixed dollar amount for the ticket, and a charge for every MPH you were over the speed limit. You can call the phone number on the back of the ticket to get info on how it was calculated. Beware of hidden charges if you go to court (court fees, etc.).
The note on the ticket simply means that if you were unable to present insurance or valid tags at the time of the ticket, but you did have valid insurance and tags, then you can present the evidence to the clerk of court to get those charges dismissed.
Were you able to present valids tags and insurance?
I would fight the ticket. I've averaged 2 speeding tickets per year since I was 15 years old, and have always had a clean driving record. When I lived in Louisiana, I would simply show up on the court date to find a courtroom full of other traffic police victims. They didn't have time to hear all of our cases, and would dismiss mine based on alphabetical order because it took too long to get to it (my last name begins with an "S").
In Texas, they have deferred adjudification, which basically means that I pay some money for the ticket, but it doesn't go against my record if I'm a clean citizen for 6 months after the court date (no more tickets in that time). They also have the traffic school option to keep your record clean. I'm sure Florida has this also.
Good luck!

Yes many police cars are equipped with radar guns that are able to calculate your speed and deduct the speed that they are traveling, thus accurately clocking your speed. As long as his radar was calibrated and he has all current paperwork to back that up it will stand up in court. It is also not required that they show you the radar gun, even if asked.
as for the note, my guess is that it is in regards to a ticket recieved for paperwork, or other things that can be proven that you were wrongly cited. It in no way affects a speeding ticket.
In my opinion, it is always best to take a ticket to court, even if you decide to plead guilty. There is a chance that 1) the officer won't show, 2) his radar gun wasn't properly calibrated, or 3) the judge will give you a fairly large break for your clean record. You don't need a lawyer to take it to court, so unless you think you have a decent chance at getting the whole thing dropped I would save the money.
This is all advise based off my personal experience. I am not a officer.

Contact the court, a phone number should be on the back of the citation. Inquire if you can go to traffic school. You have to pay, but the citation does not go on your record. Keep in mind every jurisdiction is different, some will have it, some won't. Some may not have it for speeding tickets. I'd suggest you contact the court and find out your options

Attorney cost may be higher than your ticket. I would just show up for court. If the officer doesn't show up, you don't owe any money, and your driving record is clean.
I've had several instances where the office gave out multiple tickets, and did show up, but the court was too busy to hear my case. I was free to go.
On another instance, when I was new to Houston, I wrecked my 1997 Nissan Maxima driving around in downtown through a poorly lit area. I hit a curb and caused $2500 worth of damage to my car. The officer showed up and classified it as an accident (no other cars involved). I went to court with pics of the area, and a video showing how poorly lit the road was, and the fact that the curb wasn't painted. The officer never showed up, so my charges were dropped and I was free to go.
Take your chances and live on the edge. Go to court and hope Johnny Law doesn't show (no offense directed to officers in this forum).

Going the traffic court route is fine IF YOU HAVE THE TIME. I don't know what kind of jobs/schedule you guys have, but my time is worth far more than wasting a half day in traffic court just to save a couple of hundred bucks. Maybe if I was a poor student I'd fight it, but it isn't worth it in most instances for a salaried individual.
I don't know how it is in other states, but in TX you can take traffic school to avoid the points IF the speed was less than 25mph over the limit AND you haven't taken the school in the last year. But the total cost for all of this is almost the same as the cost of the original ticket.

If you know you were speeding, pay the ticket and move on with your life. You don't need a lawyer, and you don't need to waste the court's time. The "poor college kid" argument isn't going to work with a cop or a court when you're pulled over while driving an IS.
If you show up to court and lose, expect to pay additional fines plus court costs.

Actually, I am salaried and have a high paying job, hence the Lexus I drive. :D
However, my job is flexible enough where I can take time away from the office to take care of things like this, and not lose money fighting it (the real benefit of being salaried).
Why would I pay money for a ticket, and have my insurance possibly go up if driving school or other options cannot keep the ticket off my record? Each ticket actually winds up costing you way more than the price of the ticket if it goes on your record, and you pay more for insurance. I have 3 cars, and already pay enough for car insurance with a clean record.
Regarding your busy schedule, do you feel the same way about going to the doctor?

Huh? You can't equate a speeding ticket with personal health. If my wife, or I, has a doctor's appointment, or other personal situation, that comes first, naturally.
My job is flexible enough to allow me to take care of traffic court, too, but I'd want to make up that time. Expecting personal time off to fight a traffic ticket is stretching the personal time off policy. That's just abusing the system, imo.

Don't listen to those who tell you to "just pay it" and learn your lesson. You as a driver have many options when it comes to a traffic violation, understand the laws but you still need to obey the laws. I dont like people who speed but I will help you out regardless since you say this is your first ticket.
Options:
1. Pay fine - pay fine and lose points on your driving record and increase your insurance rate.
2. Pay fine + driving school - fines decrease but points to your driving record still may apply, insurance rate will be affected as well
3. Contest it - This options has many different options
A... Before you even get a chance to reschedule a for a court date you will be given a chance to plea "no contest" you are not admiting of guilt but will just take the penalty. This is a bargain option which the judge will reduce fines and may even eliminate docking points base on past 3 years driving record if clean.
B... Contest it outright and try to prove your case to the judge. The officer will be present to give his side of the story first. Now this is the best option for you since the unique thing about contesting a violation is that the police officer has to be present. If he does not show you automatically get a "dismiss" no question ask. In general most cases the officer will not show up probably 1/3 to 1/4 of the time, so the odds are in your favor. But don't count on this. If he does show you still have the option of "the no contest" plea which fines will be reduce and points may be eliminated. So this is a win win situation.
But bad thing about contesting it is that you will have to go to the court house about 2-3 times and it will take probably 4-6 months before your trial. But paying the fine outright is probably the dumbest thing you can do. lose money, dock points to driving record, and increase insurance. PM me if you have any more questions.

well attorney's fees range in the area of traffic tickets...you can go to the ticket clinic or whatever and expect to pay about 80 bucks, or you can go for a real attorney whose fees vary. i was lucky enough to retain an attorney that is a family friend, so my cost is nothing :D :D ...but for other tickets i have received in other areas other than south florida, i have always retained an actual civil/traffic attorney...not any of that ticket clinic stuff (i just don't trust it)...but for a decent attorney, you're probably looking at $150 to ??. good luck.

were you the only car on the on coming side of the road?
I would have asked to see his radar....
From what my lawyer here has said to me and has done for me, you can fight it.
I had my lawyer have a radar ticket thrown out last year... the cop was hiding in the bushes and was radaring down the street, I was with a pack of cars and was shotgun in the middle lane with cars on both sides.... he ended up pulling me over and giving me the ticket for going 60 in a 35.... In court my lawyer had it throw out based on simple geometry.... he drew a triangle and one point was where he was sitting on the side of the road and based on my lawyers knowledge of the radar gun type he stated that this radar can sometimes be off a few degrees to the left or right if it hasn’t been calibrated recently. He asked the cop how far away he was when he tagged me and the guy said something like 600 yards.. don’t exactly remember... and my lawyer said “well officer you started that there were cars around my clients vehicle and the time, and that if you were xxx amount of feet away and this radar can be of by a few degrees. Then in the range of xxx ft your gun could have locked onto any of the cars in the three lanes and there for only had a 33% chance of locking on to my clients“.... this is just off the top of my head but that’s about what he said...
the judge called him and the officer to the stand and they whispered some stuff and the cop came back looking pissed as all hell, the judge told me to stop following other cars that were speeding and to obey the limit.... dismissed the ticket according to something or another (law mumbo jumbo:p )
Bottom line I'd fight it, there is a chance he doesn’t even show up, you can get it thrown out on a technicality, you might be able to get it dismissed, or of all else fails begging worked for me once, lol the judge felt bad and lessened my fine :D

The traffic court recommendation is a good one. Forget the lawyer, unless you've had multiple tickets going this fast.

Also, get a better radar detector!!

I contested my speeding ticket (without a lawyer), and fortunately - I was able to get my refund back and avoid the point. I was "supposedly" clocked in at 57 MPH at a 40 MPH street, but I never admitted to that. I was mad because my co-worker just so happened to receive the same ticket on that same street, by the same cop, on the same day of the week at around the SAME time of day. I copied my ticket next to his, submitted that as evidence for ticketing on an unfair basis (not to mention, illegal use of speed trapping), and a month later, I was dismissed on all counts.
Don't get a lawyer, they'll just scam you. If you think you've been injusticed, and you're articulate enough - contest that trash.

He means to go to court and get your date postponed. Tell them that your lawyer was unable to make it or whatever reason you want, and they will give you a new court date. Then at the next court date do it again. Eventually the officer wont show up if you are lucky. If you have a friend who is a lawyer it is easier to have them do it for you, but if you have to pay for one I don't think it would be worth it.
Does your state allow defensive driving and/or probation as an option for keeping tickets off your record? If so, you may want to go that route.

In california generally speaking if you show up they knock the fine down. the amount that is posted on the citation is the "bail amount" that is the fine if you choose to pay it and waive your rights to contest it. I have gone to court on a 271.00 illegal lane change ticket and they knocked it down 100.00, so in reality you have nothing to loose, they will not make you pay more then what is initially state as the amount, they may dismiss it, lower it or hold the fine as is. Also you may take the chance that the police officer 1) wont show up and its dismissed, 2) cannot back up his statements and cannot account for how he deduced you were doing 90 MPH. i worked for a department that did not use radar, we paced or we "estimated" so we did not issue a ticket for speeding unless we were able to attest to the method how we determined the speed. But since you were pulled over by a traffic cop and his sole duty in life was to issue citations he probably used radar, he is not obligated to tell you how he got you unless you ask. (atleast in california) but you will find that out in court....
Since i worked gang enforcement we did not do alot "traffic" except the usual "your tail light is out" type stops to as a Probable cause to search the car, they had a traffic division for that.
anyway, i would take it to court and exercise your right to confront your accuser on all charges, you have nothing to loose.

i agree with poster above.. i wont bore you all with the details, but in my past experiences contesting the ticket has always proven to be a better option than paying the fine outright.. it may end up being drawn out for a few months, but chances are you will come out better than you would by just mailing the pd a check.. good luck!
P.S. what radar detector were you using? was it on?

Yea, If its your first speeding ticket, if you take it to what they call "PRE COURT" the judge will cut you a deal usually a price and traffic school with no points, if the tickets 208, he might make you pay 200 or 250 you never know but hell most prolly send you to traffic school which would be a hella alot better then having points and your insurance going up...
You should of been pulled over in the gsxer, flip the tag and open the carbs up :)...lmao just kidding dont do that lol

In California, "Traffic School" in many courts consist of getting a little booklet in the mail and a open-book "test" that you take in front of a Notary. Took my wife all of two hours, including coffee breaks.

If you go to court and lose they will usually let you take the traffic school to avoid the points. To me the most important thing is to avoid points. Once you start racking up points your insurance will go crazy, especially if you are young. And don't ever get caught with a DUI, you will pay dearly for years to come on surcharges and insurance.
BTW, were you in a car or on your bike? It shouldn't make any difference, but people look differently on motorcycle speeding. (Careless, reckless, etc.). And detecting speed on an oncoming bike is more difficult, so it might play into your decision as to which way you want to go.

how much did you pay for the lawyer?
were you the only car on the on coming side of the road?
Bottom line I'd fight it, there is a chance he doesn’t even show up, you can get it thrown out on a technicality, you might be able to get it dismissed, or of all else fails begging worked for me once, lol the judge felt bad and lessened my fine :D

what kind of radar detector do you have??
Ace E.
05-23-07, 09:57 PM
You can also call the court clerk and ask about deferred adjudication. If they offer it, they sometimes will check your driving record and see if you have alot of citations. If you do, they may not offer it to you. Deferred adj. will mean you will have to pay the fine, or close to it, and go a period of time without a moving citiation (6wks to a year depending on court and judge). After that time, the charge is dismissed and not recorded on your record (and no reporting to insurance company).
The officer does not have to show you his radar with the "cited" speed as he can say it is unsafe for you to exit your vehicle due to traffic or officer saftey.
Hope this helps.

All i have to say (in addition to what i said before) is GO TO COURT! The plead 'not guilty', not 'no contest', or 'guilty with explanation'.
quick story. driving from seattle down to portland where i live. i was going 80 in a 55. got pulled over and ticketed not just for speeding, but for failure to signal as well. i decided, unlike past tickets, to make the investment and fight it. not only did i have to take the time off for the court, but the drive was 2 HOURS EACH WAY. pleaded not guilty, explained that i was clearly following the traffic on the freeway, and that i used my signal but the morning sunlight from the front of me could easily have washed out my signal, i got the ticket defered. that means that it is kept in 'pending' for 12 months, and as long as i don't get a ticket in the mean time, it is dropped.
best decision of my life. the 12 months is over and i'm off scott free.
another lesson. i have been a bad driver in the past, and have gotten quite a few tickets.
want to know how much i pay in insurance? $540 EVERY MONTH. that's almost as much as my monthly car payment.
FIGHT IT.

simply insist that you really don't believe you were going that fast. it's not a lie, you don't think you were. that leaves it up to the officer to PROVE that you were, which is much harder than it is for you to say that you weren't.

i got a red-light violation ticket recently. I just paid it and registered for online traffic school. My advice is just pay it, take traffic school, and learn from this experience. If you can become a safer driver, and avoid just 1 accident, this is money well spent. IMHO.
Hey all,
I was stopped today doing 90 at 65 in my car and the fine is $208.50 (is this the right amount in FL?).
Thanks for all your help!!!

call and see if you can just send it in the mail or pay the fine out of court. if you can it might save some court costs. i got a 93 in a 70 not too long ago and was thinking the judge wouldnt like that too much so i just paid it out of court all $184.00 of it. if you do, do this make sure you get a receipt and keep it in your car with your insurance, registration ect. ect.. if you get pulled over and the cop says something about not showing in court or something, show him the receipt and he cant do anything about it.
good luck with it all...

My advice would be to make an appointment for an arraignment and go. At the arraignment you can either plead guilty, not guilty, or no contest. Unless you have a very good reason for why you shouldn't get the ticket, you should plead guilty. Don't plead no contest. It's for people that got into an accident and don't want to say guilty or else they are considered at fault automatically under the law.
Every judge that I've seen has given a reduced fine at the arraignment, at least a 25% reduction. One time I only had to pay about 20% of the original fine. (It was pretty much the processing fee because I had agreed to go to traffic school so he took away the rest of the fine). And based on what you've said, I would just go to court and pay, that's all you can do. Radar guns are incredibly accurate and are still accurate when used while moving.
If you really want to get out of the ticket I guess you could ask the judge at the arraignment if the officer that cited you is the kind that always shows up at court. If he says that your officer doesn't show up much, you could say not guilty and hope he doesn't show up at your later scheduled court hearing. I think in most cases the officer has to not show up multiple times before the judge can throw out the case. But this of course is very dependent on the officer and judges you get so I wouldn't try it unless you want to spend lots of time.
Oh and I don't think a lawyer would be appropriate for your kind of case. Lawyers are usually hired if you know you can't show up and need someone to appear in court on your behalf or for the more serious cases like if you get multiple points.
This is my experience with California's traffic court btw, don't know if the rules are the same in Florida.

Well, the good thing is, you live in Florida! I Live in Broward County and down here if you get a ticket, 3 days later, your mail box will be flooded with postcards from lawyers wanting to defend your case, often, for as little as $35.00 + court fees. The traffic lawyers have a good working relationship with the judges and arrive in court with "bulk" cases. The judge generally dismisses them all. You Get to keep a clean record and just pay the court fees. Many lawyers will even guarantee your case will be dismissed or you don't pay.

The above would only apply if you had failed to show evidence of same and were actually also cited for the failure to show them in addition to having been cited for speeding.
Also, there is a provision for driver school that may help you avoid points, this depends on your driving record.

The only problem with delaying it is that the police, when they are needed to show up in court, either do it while on duty or when they do it off duty, they get overtime pay. I would try the delay and maybe the cop will be on vacation that week or something may prevent him from coming that particular day / time. Cost is zero to try.

go to court, plead not guilty, and return on court date.
Ask file motion for discovery on the certification of the radar gun, the calibration papers, and testing.
Radar/Lasers must be certified yearly. Ask the officer, if he certifies calibration daily. He cannot he can only test calibration. Then ask for his test calibration log. Dont ask me how i know, I used to write alot of tickets, I got mixed up like this once. Then i kept a log book, and never lost one since.
The officer must be certified
The unit must be calibrated yearly/ test calibrated daily
Department must have record of yearly calibration, and officers certification to operate.
Officer must keep log of daily test calibration and results.

Moving radar guns are less accurate than stationary radar guns, you maybe able to argue that in court. Plus police radar have to be calibrated every so often, ask to see the calibration report on the gun used.

$200 only for a speeding ticket? out here in California the fees are ridiculous. I would just take traffic school and pay it. Why traffic school? so that you dont get it on your record, which then will make your insurance premium go up. Also, you can try to fight it, out here in California you can win. If the cop doesn't show, its a win for you. Life is too busy and alot of times they dont show here.
I got a ticket before and I did my traffic school online in a few hours. 1st went to pay the ticket, then asked about online traffic school, they game me some resources. Completed it, printed the certificate, took it to the court. Done deal.

Some free legal advice:
If you got your ticket in S. Florida, hire a ticket clinic lawyer and have them do their thing. They charge up to $100, but all they do is tickets and its their "specialty".
If your going to do it yourself, get a continuance. Most counties set their court dates so that the officer can handle numerous tickets they issue on one day. If you continue the case, odds are the officer won't appear and you can get it dismissed due to their failure to able to provide evidence.
Worse comes to worse, suck it up - pay your fine and take driving school, which will get rid of your points, it'll count versus your driving school quota (X number of times in a 2 or 3 year period) however.
BTW, just my personal advice, I'm not your lawyer and if you decide to consult with one they'll know your incident's specifics much better than I.

Sounds about right for the speed. I think u should go to court though. There is always a chance they will lower it but no chance if you just pay it without an appearance.
We winter in Florida & have noticed the very high speeds on I 75,
75 - 80 MPH seems common but way too fast at 90.

I'm with ff........though, since this is your first offense, I'm not going to beat you over the head. Learn from your experience, pay the fine, toss that detector, stay reasonably close to the limit from now on, and get on with life.
20-30 MPH over the limit is considered reckless driving in some states (don't know about FL). You CAN question the accuracy of the radar to some extent, as Lexiss above indicated, but it seems clear that you were speeding. I would accept a speeding fine, and, IF you are facing a reckless driving charge as well, I would meet with the prosecutor and offer to plead guilty to an ordinary speeding charge in exchange for them dropping the reckless driving charge....THAT is something you DON'T want on your record...trust me.
Also, keep another thing in mind. If you have a larger-then-stock tire/wheel diameter, it may cause the speedometer and odometer both to read low and fool you into thinking you are going slower than you really are.....but usually just a few MPH.

Oh Boy... I am amazed to read this thread with amazing things which could be done if you get a ticket. I was living in Mich for a couple of years during my school time and was working part time as delivery guy. Got a couple of tickets but I found a trick around it.. I usually contest the ticket and set a hearing date and when I it is close to the date I will call in to deffer it and it will be postponed bet 30~60 days.
This is allowed only once. I have been succesful twice on this where once the officer did not show up and the second time the oficer showed up but he forgot about the situation and the case was dismissed :D:D.. but I still got 2 tickets which I could not get away with although contesting it:cry::cry:
Maybe if I would have seen this thread earlier I would asked the judge if there is a way where I could have avoided the points. Darn!!! was a foreign student so I had no clue at that point of time..
Bottom Line..CONTEST THE TICKET!!! I am having 3 cars now and the insurance is killing me!!! although I have been a clean driver for the last 2 years I believe I still have 2 points left which will be dropped this Nov!!

Do you guys not have deferred adjudication there? Just do that. That's what i do all the time. I love it.
yes cops can give you tickets based on estimation of speed. They don't have to have radar guns or any of that. They can use the excuse that in their years of being an officer this is something they are trained to do. The can use this in court also. Any time you go to court with a cop, it's your word against theirs. So no matter what the truth is, the cop will always win.
Now if you do contest it, you can get the chance that the cop wont show up. In that case, you win.
Also, you can get the fine lowered at the hearing.

well i went to the court today trying to fish out some information. the lady/cashier told me there is a 25 dollars of court fees regardless and the judge could fine me up to 500 dollars if found guilty. she said since a FHP (florida highway patrol) pulled me over, they always show up to court because they get paid 200+ dollars overtime and thats simply their job to pull people over. She did tell me that i can extend up to 3 month to pay the ticket (is this what you guys are talking about extending?) Can anyone confirm the information she said is accurate?
If its true, right now im just thinking about paying for it. Unless there is a way to reduce the ticket since its my first.
Thanks for all your help

My wife decided to fight her $150 speeding ticket in traffic court recently. She did this once before years ago. The cop never showed up and the ticket was dismissed. She was hoping for the same thing. This time, however, the cop showed up and brought the radar gun with the most recent calibration report. My wife didn't have a leg to stand on and ended up paying $200+ with court fees! LOL!

She is a clerk & not a legal aide. They don't want you in court as it takes their time up. Go to court, say there were cars passing you so u didn't realize u were going that fast or some other idea like that.
Point out that this was your 1st speeding, etc. Say it will never happen again, go for it.

Fight that. Get a lawyer and get no points. 90 in a 65 is outrageous man, slow down lol

Hey all,
I was stopped today doing 90 at 65 in my car and the fine is $208.50 (is this the right amount in FL?).
I know that there are alot of officers on this site, could you kindly please assist me in my best decision
Thanks for all your help!!!
Write every pertinent detail down (location, time, weather, how many cars around you at the time, etc., etc.) so that you don't forget it.
Then go consult with a traffic lawyer - it should be free. They will be able to tell you approximately what your chances of getting this ticket dismissed are.
Based on that information, you can make a decision on whether it is worth to pay the lawyer or the court and take traffic school.

If you post your problem/question in as many forums as possible, it'll probably just take care of itself.

At least someone finally said it. If you put as much effort into looking out for cops as you did putting up posts about this, you should NEVER get a ticket.
At the very least, stop speeding if getting a ticket has you panicking this much... Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

you've obviously had no experience with this before, which is a very good thing!!! If i was you, and my license was clean i would take a defensive driving class(usually no more than 8hrs on a sat./cost about 70bucks) and present it when you go to court. In my experience this reduced my citation to like $50 bucks and they shouldnt give you any points.then you could use the 3month period to pay it, unless your a baller haha. However, if you have previous history of speeding, such as myself and are pending losing your license, then i would go to defensive driving prior to court, get a lawyer and he can have the judge reduce your speed and salvage your license but the fine might be more.
I just recently went to court for 95 in a 65(my fourth offense over 85mph) and my lawyer had them reduce the speed to 80 to save my license, they gave me no points but i had to pay a $770.00 fine.
I got bent over without the KY on that one^
My recommendation(if your record is clean) is to do the defensive driving and present it when you go to court. tell them you messed up and decided take a defensive driving course to show the court good faith. They are gonna make you take one anyways, so you mind as well do it now becuase it looks better to the courts this way. They should reduce it greatly!!! less $$$ out of pocket that way!
Good luck, and we feel your pain!

I'm sorry about your ticket but I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you six more (forum style) and I am going to close this thread.
You spammed SIX model forums with exactly the same post unrelated to any of the vehicles and ignored our forum rules.
I've merged all those posts here... you've got some good advice on following the speed limit and obey the law. I'd advise you to follow those of this forum in the future please or I'll be forced to revoke your license to post.
