so the story seems to be that the guy just bought some new lug nuts for those wheels at some shop... JUST lug nuts not wheels and lug nuts... he was given the wrong pitch so they felt they went on snug and the guy even torqued them (another guy at the event borrowed the same torque wrench and tightened his lug nuts)...
i haven't found another video link, didn't think it would disappear so soon... basically it's a red FD at an auto-x and about 10 seconds into his run on wheel comes off the car within 3 seconds, the remaining 3-wheels come off the car as well and you get an FD grinding to a halt on the ground...
a subsequent post by someone at the event says that surprisingly little damage was done to the car because the design of the FD has most major components above the lower edge of the car
You know what..the same thing ALMOST happened to me (to my front wheels.). I hand-tightened my lugs but I didn't want to over torque. I was wondering what the shaking noise/feel was in the front. Luckily I fixed it before something major happened!
