Aston Martin is reportedly preparing a road-going version of its Vantage N24 racing car (pictured) in the U.K.

GAYDON, England — Aston Martin is reportedly about to unleash a road-going version of its Vantage N24 racer in the U.K.

Great Britain has always had a soft spot for low-volume and specialist cars, and U.K. lovers of the art form benefit from a process called Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) that makes life for kit-car makers much easier. The Pistonheads Web site is reporting that Aston Martin is using that method to offer fans a chance to own their very own Vantage N24 racing car.

The special Vantage is expected to sell for the equivalent of about $198,000. In addition to offering a nice pedigree, including 24-hour Nürburgring races, FIA GT4 championship runs and the like, the road-legal N24 will come with a 410-horsepower engine (the standard version makes 380 hp), adjustable suspension, a roll cage, special wheels and a weight of just 2,930 pounds. To pass SVA the car had to be tamed, so a hand brake, license plate lights, a revised exhaust system, a standard steering column lock and other bits have all been installed.

What this means to you: The war between Aston and Porsche heats up, and that's good for everybody.

So, will it still look like a yellow zucchini with green lipstick?
