The 2 cars from there I have owned have had unbelievable build quality
(inside and outside). Nothing else compares. The gaps and panels
have such tight tolerances that it makes any blemish show (including
aftermarket body work unfortunately )
I've owned two cars from there as well... my old 84 Celica was a beast... still going strong though it's owned by a friend.
And now my 91 LS400, which is also the most solid and comfortable car I've ever driven, period.
I think it would be pretty cool to work as a white glove tester though... get to joyride brand new Lexus-es all day... and get paid for it. It's a win-win situation.

Well, they did it to ensure quality...and don't worry you'll have many more opportunities to do so then they did!
I was really surprised to see the martini glass test. They've talked about stethoscope engine testing, but to demonstrate the glass test not just in the famous Lexus 1989 TV ad, but to actually apply it in real life---shows how dedicated they are. Although I don't know how they quantify the results of that test.
But I remember way back then, our ES 300 came with a certificate of testing/approval. I see now the test was more extensive than I realized.
