Although the big news on the Honda/Acura front was the postponement of the Acura brand launching in Japan, the other shocker was when Takeo Fukui, Honda's CEO, said that the new NSX won't be making its debut at this year's Tokyo Motor Show.
There's never been a firm date for the reveal of Honda's newest supercar, but there's been considerable speculation that a revamped version of the Advanced Sports Car Concept might bow soon. Considering that Acura won't be coming to the Land of the Rising Sun until 2010 – at the earliest -- and there's no auto show planned for that year, we may have to wait until October of 2011 before we catch a glimpse of what Honda has up its sleeve. That's a long way away, so we hope Honda to makes it worth the wait.
That's pretty crappy news for Acura. In fact they haven't had any news about new models either. The RSX replacement hasn't made much news. I don't even know if the RSX replacement is coming stateside. Because technically isn't the RSX replacement the CSX Canada gets? Anyone know?
Hopefully they'll take into account that the performance specs will be at the 2010 level, otherwise they'll get their *** kicked by upcoming cars with gradual increasing horsepowers.
Well at least Toyota never announced a Supra successor. Acura has and they've been changing the date. Toyota hasn't made any promises, which is bad in the fact that we're kept in the dark and good in the fact that they're not letting people down by saying they're gonna build it and not.
I'm one of those "believe it when I see it" folks. It just seems Honda doesn't want to build this thing. Maybe they're concerned about following an icon. The NSX set such high sandards but repeating the same quality and power will cost an arm and a leg and a head in today's market. Honda doesn't want just another nice car, they want an ahead of it's time car. That ain't cheap and isn't easy to build either.
I must admit I am rather shocked. Nissan's GT-R is coming soon, the production Lexus LF-A is supposed to officially be shown at this year's Tokyo autoshow with cars hitting dealers late 2008/2009. I was fully expecting to see the new NSX at the Tokyo show this year. Now it looks like Acura won't be in this competition for a few years. I wonder what the problem is? Internal conflict with regards to the car's development?
What is this, 7 years of toying with us? Just stop talking about it Honda, how about just stop talking in general with these whack press releases and whack concepts. Ridiculous.

I totally agree with you. I too have seen that concept on video before and I thought I almost threw up.
The current gen NSX design is 10,000,000,000,000 times better.
