Other than the $120k+ Neiman Marcus LS600hL, and a very rare Pebble Beach SC430, there haven't been any recent Special Edition Lexus for '07/'08.
Even the ES and RX had special editions last year (Black Diamond and Thundercloud editions, respectively). The GS and IS definately would benefit from a special edition as they've been on the market for more than two years.
I would definately like to see more innovatively designed Lexus out on the road. Hell, even Scion has Special Edition variants...
Some ideas: an UltraLux IS350 with glass roof (just like the UltraLux ES) and 19" wheels (same size as IS-F), or a GS460 with Air Suspension and Advanced Parking Guidance (alla LS460).
I would rather a true sport model or some "F" accessories available. L-tuned was not well thought out.
I did think the Coach/platinum/Sportdesign etc Lexus are cool but they would do silly things like make the SD GS 300 only...sigh....
I hope they do add some more special editions to boost sales. They will only use the GS350 or the IS250 and not the 430 and 350 because that will appeal to a wider audience.
I think most of the special editions come at the very end of the model cycle, to boost sales.
True, but there are exceptions. The Nieman Marcus 2-seat Thunderbird preceded the release of the general model by several months, and every couple of years Mazda seems to do a different Special Edition Miata model.
Lexus special edition = Goofy color only 100 people would want.
No thanks
What specific color are you referring to? I can't tell from the posts, unless it is the Thundercloud or Black Diamond mentioned in the first post, and black and gray are both pretty popular nowadays.
