i always loved all Porsches!! :)I think its one of best automakers,,, now that real German engineering……. 911turbo is real performance........OMG this car so much fun!... you can forget about others cars. Definition of performance is PORSCHE:D:D………… am actually serious about 911 that maybe going my first German car, but its worth it…..

Man this is hard... my choices are between 911 GT3RS, Turbo, R8, CLK Black. Some nice cars out right now.

Aston Martin.

They truly make the most beautiful cars in the world.

Oh, and they're pretty fast too :) .

This was a tough choice. I was deciding between the R8, Maser Gran Turismo, Jaguar XKR, and the Aston Martin. But, gosh, it's always been a dream of mine to have an Aston, even if the other cars are faster and better. An Aston is an Aston. I've got to have that Vantage.

No car could take away my love for GTR, I love every generation of Skyline GTR.

On this particular list, it would be a tie between the Jag...(with the wood option rather than metallic interior) and the Audi R8 with its Quattro AWD.

But how about a list of coupes for people who don't have the better part of 100K...or more....to spend?

Mr. Jones
07-26-07, 04:48 AM
I didn't realize there were so many high-end coupes

R8 is my favorite.
Aston Martin Vantage
GT3
the GT-R too if it meets expectations.

to me the rest don't seem worth owning.

Interesting point, as I have thought for quite some time that based on price, power, and driving dynamics, the XKR and R8 would probably compete very favorably with eachother.

You didn't give any qualifications such as which would you buy if money WAS or WASN'T an objective, if this was a daily driver or not... etc...

If money WAS an objective and this was NOT a daily driver, I'd get the Z06

If it was no objective then I'd get the Audi R8, regardless of daily driver status or not...

Gojirra99

I voted 911 GT3 RS, but for daily driver, I would pick the Audi R8.

No DB9 on the poll? I just chose the Vantage off the list... :D

If I had the cash, wait on the Nissan GTR. Otherwise a Z06. R8 I would have to give it some more time to form a better opinion.

DB9 is closer to 200k than 100k...so it was left off.

Aren't the 997 GT2 & the GT3 RS closer to $200K than $100K too ? :)

Good point about the GT2, probably be 180k..I should take that off.
GT3 RS is 130k

Wow.. All great cars. I am a Vette head, so I will take the Vette C6 ZO6. You can't beat 505hp V8, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, 200mph top speed & 25 mpg on the highway to boot.

07-26-07, 11:31 AM
911 Turbo or GT3 if I had to use 100K of my own money (new they might
both be more like 130-140K).

For uniqueness though an Aston or a Maseratti may be more interesting.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS no question. Preferrably in Black/Orange.

but that may change with the GT-R.

Aston for me.

Since the Vanquish S is too costly on this list I'd have to go with the AMG Black Series.

100K - AMG CLK Black Series
200K - Vanquish S
too manyK - Veyron

I voted for the R8, but just curious why there was no Porsche Cayman? It is a little under $100K, but loaded it can reach that number easily after taxes and all that BS.

Maybe so, I guess, if you can afford it.

Definitely hard.

Luxury cruiser or performance coupe???

Practicality or exotic cars...

M6 or CL for me.

AzNMpower
07-27-07, 08:29 AM
I decided M6. Looks good, the performance is great, yet it doesn't totally scream "LOOKIT ME" from afar, like an Aston Martin or R8 would. And that F1 soundtrack is to die for.

To be honest though, I'd buy an E46 M3, and save the rest of the cash.

Well it's like they are all great cars. As a preference I would take a R8 since it's said to be roomie for a mid-engine car and AWD should make it a nice all around DD.

I really love the GT3 as well but it lacks stability control. Its a big deal which I think Porsche would be wise to offer as an option.

I drove a GT3 and Aston Vantage and of those two I would hands down go with the GT3. The Vantage looks nice and is well built but was a tight fit than I would expect and lacks power (for it's weight) at this price point. Give it 420hp like the M3 or the RS4 (IMO) and I'd like it a lot more.

The GT3 is a great car easy to drive, good room, not great interior but OK. I would expect stability control at least as an option and Porsche is making it standard in the GT2 so that tells me it's not left off b/c the GT3 is a performance car. I mean the Ferrati F430 and the Z06 have SC it's not the end of the performance world.

07-27-07, 11:44 PM
It's the R8 for me as well. As much as I love the elegance and class of Aston Martins, the Audi has those qualities, too, and it just has a special X-factor right now. I cannot wait to see one in person!

skater
07-29-07, 01:09 AM
Tough call, but the GT3 is just too much of a good track car to be ignored.

Other than that, the C6 Z06 sounds tempting; value is unbeatable, and will leave you with enough money to spare for some modifications :)

911 turbo for sure. Tons of potential, great daily driver.

08-05-07, 12:29 PM
I agree the LF-A should be on the list, but also what about the SL500 ($96k) or SL55 AMG ($130k)? I'm not a Benz fan, but if I were to buy one it would be the SL class.

Also, the Z06 isn't really a fair comparison because it's only 70k (despite performance numbers). For 100 grand, I'd rather have the new Stingray (ex-Blue Devil).

mmarshall
08-05-07, 05:38 PM

Yes and no. Dealerships typically don't let them go for less than 90K, and with options, tax/tags, and gas-guzzler tax (if applicable) you're pushing 100K.

But at the same time, that Porsche or Aston with all the options, tax/tags and gas-guzzler tax (which doesn't apply to the z06 because of it's EPA 18-26mpg) You're looking at 150 g's.

But the Vette is faster, so I'll allow it :p

I don't consider the MB CLS a coupe, but rather a 4 door sedan with coupe-like styling. :uh:

You can have a 4 door coupe. Just like the early 90's Honda Accords, the term coupe is defined by the interior spacing and not by the amount of doors.

The CLS is a coupe, the 2 as well as the 4 door version.

Dunno why the CLS was taken off, it qualifies as a coupe and the top of the line CLS 63 AMG fits the 100k budget.

But my vote goes to the Porsche 911 GT2.

CLK black series for me, also debating the GTR.

I was sold on the 911 Turbo when I went skiing in feb a few years ago. My family and I were cautiously going over Vail Pass during a light snow storm. The roads were snow packed and very slick.

I look over in the slow lane, and I see some guy in a 996 turbo pass us:eek2:

To this day I still think it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen during the winter.

That is the kind of supercar coupe I want.

ok..... you sound like you can buy either one if you choose

not enough people can afford or own a 911 for it to be 'played out'

a played out car would be G35 or 350Z

btw aren't Aston Martin's fairly slow for their price and hp output? i think i saw 0-60 in the mid to high 4 sec for one of the coupes.
