View Full Version : stock E60 M5 vs. stock E90 335 vids.
DASHOCKER 08-14-07, 07:22 PM Seems as if a stock 335 gives the v10 M5 a bit of trouble..:eek2: Enjoy..

PhantomZX 08-15-07, 12:02 AM Description says they were at 5500ft of elevation, causing more power loss for the NA engine. Plus it looks like there are 3 people in the M5.
I also wonder if the M5 was in 500hp mode.
Solo_D33A 08-15-07, 01:32 AM wonder if the 335's chipped as you can see from other vid linked....
DrDrilZ 08-15-07, 07:52 AM the roll on vid doesnt make sense if they are both stock
That is a chipped 335i, and at altitude (as mentioned).
DASHOCKER 08-15-07, 09:49 AM That is a chipped 335i, and at altitude (as mentioned).Do you know for sure? 0-60 for both cars stock are quite close. 4.5(m5) vs 4.8(335). The E60 M5 will indeed pull strong in the quarter. From a roll, the M5 will pull slowly ahead.. :)
1SICKLEX 08-15-07, 09:51 AM From a roll, the 335 will get murdered, stock for stock. We are talking 300 vs 500hp here and 4 extra cylinders. The M5 is a 200 mph car.
Interesting videos though.

Interesting videos though. How many cars can take out a stock 500hp 2006 Mustang Cobra? Heck, a Stock c6 Vette with 400hp mops that car up. Reason....Weight. A 335 will not be "murdered" by an M5.. It will die slowly.
It's a proceded 335i, the guy posted the vid over at e90post.
4TehNguyen 08-15-07, 11:24 AM bit too optimistic to believe (assuming stock) 335 can hang with a V10 M5
Road and Track hit 4.1 sec in 0-60 with the new M5, 335 cant come close to that
DASHOCKER 08-15-07, 11:33 AM It's a proceded 335i, the guy posted the vid over at e90post.
I must look into this chip:D
From a roll is where the M5 shines. Weigh is less of a concern once you're rolling, and the M5's makes most of its power near redline. I'm not surprised if the 335i is chipped if what picus said is true.

Weight has nothing to do with racing a car from a roll or at top speed. What you need is more power and better aerodynamics.

Up until the speed where the engine can't overcome the aerodynamic drag of the car, more weight will always negatively affect the acceleration rate of the car.
4TehNguyen 08-15-07, 01:52 PM weight is probably less of an issue @ a roll vs @ a stop but it still matters
The guy who posted it is proceded only, I think he said his 1/4 was 13.1 @ 109mph or something, don't quote me, I can't find the thread. With downpipes and some more tuning the 335i might hang front a dig; from a roll I think it'd still lose slowly, especially in the high end. I drove around in a proceded 335i all weekend, it's quick but it still loses a lot of steam over 5500rpm.
OC 335i 08-15-07, 02:18 PM My friend says he races his friend's new M5 0-100 he hangs, after 100 it's game over. He has a Procede E90 335i.
O. L. T. 08-15-07, 03:36 PM There is a certain amount that qualifies as "enough" and either of these get it done. I don't care which is faster I'll rock either.
Do you know for sure? Apologies for the late response.
Yes. I know both of the owners, and (concerning the altitude) the clips were taken in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Fireblaze 09-16-07, 03:55 PM Both are really nice cars. I don't want to see the new M3 vs. the M5 if the 335 gets this close.
