Rumours have recently surfaced suggesting Lamborghini is releasing an exclusive new model worth 1 million euros (US$1.6 million). Details are sketchy, but it is believed that only 20 cars will be built, of which only 10 are possibly heading to the US.

Last week a 25% scale model of the car was apparently shown to potential buyers at Santa Monica Airport. Lamborghini is said to be unveiling it in Frankfurt in September but already all 20 are supposed to have been pre-sold, each requiring a US$300,000 deposit, with some hopeful ones even sitting on a waiting list.

Ironically, rumors first popped up about the ultra-Lambo on the Ferrari Chat forums. They suggest the new car will be styled like a “jet fighter”, with an instrument cluster to suit. It’s speculated that Lamborghini has spent lots of time following a Raptor attack plane at military bases to gain inspiration for this project, and will supposedly be releasing the car in only one colour – jet fighter grey, with a green military-like interior to match. Rumoured to be built on the LP platform, it shares its doors and mirrors with the Murcielago LP640 but is said to have a very different front end.

Power figures are anyone’s guess at this stage, but all that can be inferred at this point is that the powerplant will probably be a 12-cylinder more powerful than the LP640’s and it should be road legal in the US. via motorauthority

Browsing through the Lambo forums real quick, saw talk about this. Quoted posts from a few different people. Might be some truth to this...


Ok, let me tell you facts as I saw the car (wasn't even a car but a 25% scale model), I will be getting the car, and I have a deposit on the car. The car was show to a select group by invitation only at Santa Monica Airport last week. The model (25% of the actual size of the car) was shown along with a video of the car and the story behind it. The actual car will be show for first time in Frankfurt. The model will be in Monterey. There are 20 cars total being made, only 10 will come to the US. All 20 are sold out already with a 12 person waiting list as of today. The car is based on a jet fighter and thus has many jet fighter characteristics. The only come in grey (like a jet fighter) and the interior is green (military but cool). The instrument panel is insane....can't even begin to tell you how cool that is and it's like being in a jet inside the car. The car is $1 million euros. Delivery begins next year. That's all I can say for now. It's built on a LP platform with the LP doors and mirrors but everything else it totally wild and new. You'll see it soon enough as several (4 I know of) OC locals are getting one!! I want to thank the awesome guys at Lambo OC who make buying a car fun again!! They rock!!

the color is something to digest, but if you get into the whole story it makes sense. The car is street legal. They spent many hours following the Raptor attack plane at various military bases and derive a lot from that as the inspiration, especially the instrument cluster which again is so awesome. The exclusivity and it's unique nature got me....plus anytime you can get a supercar at sticker you just do it and figure out the pieces later. It's pretty radical looking....alot like a fighter plane and the carbon is just insane. The only thing it shares are the doors from the LP and mirrors. The rest is totally new.

Some speculate that Lambo might use the Veyron engine and other tidbits as it doesnt make much sense to only build 20 cars on a totally new platform. They can't build a new vehicle, and have it certified, and sell 20 of them for a million and a half, and still make a profit.

So, it's a jet engine on a car chassis.

Nice. If they can produce tires that will actually be able to handle it... :D

Sounds very exciting, it's definitely going to look different than most other supercars out there. I've really liked Lambo's styling direction as of late. I'm interested to hear about the performance of this thing.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the F22 RaptorLamborghini has been hiding something from us all. They’ve been making a car based on a plane. Not just any plane, though, it’s modelled on the US Army’s latest toy – the F22 ‘Raptor’.

The car is set to cost $1.6million and be closely inspired by the Raptor, including a grey paint job and a stylised instrument panel.

Lamborghini has vowed to make only 20 cars, half of which are off ‘Stateside and all of which have been spoken for by means of a $300,000 deposit.

The boys from Sant Agata have only commented that they are making a jet-inspired car and that it will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show,

The F-22 Raptor is a stealth replacement for the current (ish) F-15 fighter plane. Designed by Lockheed, the plane is capable of supersonic cruising and can sneak up on targets practically unseen. In order to make sure it lived up to its stealth capabilities, all its missiles are inside the fuselage.

Having heard about this car, we're wondering whether it's a possible Veyron beater? The current LP640 can crack 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and do 210mph, all for £192,000 - so what will £800,000 (est) get you?

Hot and heavy conversation about this on Talk Lambo and Lambo Power. Power improvement seems modest at best. It almost seems like a kit car body put on a slightly modded LP640. Consensus is disappointed, at best.

Several of the 20 have owned up to being offered the car, but no one is mentioning specifics. A model of it is being shown at Monterey. Hard to imagine this is worth a premium over a Veyron, Enzo, or Koenigsegg, much less that much of a premium.

While Lamborghini’s president Stephan Winkelmann was speaking
members of Bloomberg News at the Euro auto press today about the 25% increase in Lamborghinis brand for the first half of 2007, he confirmed the rumors we’ve been hearing about a limited edition super expensive car.

“I can confirm those rumors, but at this stage I will have to make you wait until the Franfurt Auto Show, where we will release more details…I can’t confirm the price at this stage, but it will be very expensive indeed,” said Winelmann.

Nah, just a regular LP640. Thats been out for over a year. If I remember correctly it was some custom paint job done for someone in Russia??

i can't wait to finally see this thing. and no that jet-painted one better not be it. i'm looking forward to this thing really resembling a jet.

I mean, since I already have so much saved up in my "F1 Car" Piggy Bank, I think I'd still rather pay 1.6 for an f1 car than a lambo. especially when i've heard a gallardo and an lp640. gallardo sounds better by far.

Looks like something made for the Transformer movie. Very mean and sinister looking as usual. But not million dollar worthy if you ask me. But hey, those 20 or so lucky owners are probably happy since they thought it was worth it. Maybe a future collector item.

Looks good but not sure if its worth 5 murcielagos. The overall shape is the same. If they want 1.6 mil they should have come up with a completely new design.

oh my, look at that interior. Not gunna lie I really like it. Those wheels are :eek2: they look crazy. Also I think that custom painted murcy above is cool, reminds of something you'd see on Gumball 3000.

This thing only gets 20 hp more then the LP640 lol This thing better deflect radar and stuff i wouldn't want a speeding ticket in this thing. One thing I really do like the carbon fiber mags.

the wheels look awful. the overall shape is mediocre, but nothing extraordinary... its not even modern. no led headlights. no exotic engineering.

so maybe the interior was supposed to be the special part... but the tach is like a 90s digital dashboard. for a minimal per unit cost, they could have gone full LCD drawing out analog gauges with custom settings... like what the f22 has. also, what about a HUD? or a harness to sit in? i mean there are so many possible ideas... it just feels anticlimactic.

i understand for $1.6m often there's no value. and its about art or exclusivity or something else. OK but so long as there are other things you can get for the money id say there IS some value. for instance, an Enzo + Maybach. or a Veyron + 6 figures in cash. or the new veyron they came out with.. or or.. there are other exclusive cars you can get.

i guess at the end of the day they built it to raise money (prob like $20m) from a few die hard lamborghini enthusiasts.

I like it! But they should have made it look more like a jet by doing something crazy with the top. Maybe a lexan canopy or something.


Also this car, even though its about the same price, cannot be compared to a Veyron. A Veyron cost Bugatti 5 million to make per unit when you include the R&D that it took. Lambo wanted to to make a profit more than it wanted to make a halo car.

F-22 Raptor and a Lambo had a baby, looks pretty nice. Price tag is too crazy though

Looks absolutely incredible! The most aggressive looking supercar on the market right now IMO. Awesome interior too. As for the price tag, no it's not worth it, but neither is an Enzo, McLaren F1 or Bugatti Veyron for their respective price-tags. You're paying a premium for the priviledge in this case of owning such a rare Lambo.

Lamborghinis are named after famous bulls. Murcielago, Gallardo, Miura.

According to Steven Winkelmann (you know, the guy licking his chops laughing over the absurd profits that 20 of these are going to generate), Reventon was a bull in the 1930s or 1940s (can't remember which he said.)

So any new engine specs on it? bigger? and only 20 HP? thats not that impressive for that much $$$

In the picture of it driving to the right, is there something in the air scoop behind the door? Something white it looks like.

And it also looks like there are cooling fans below the tail lights. Is that what those are for?
