Default Brabus Smart ForTwo Xclusive

Bodo Buschmann and his Brabus crew is back with two brand new Brabus derivatives of the second-generation Smart fortwo - the fortwo BRABUS and fortwo BRABUS Xclusive. Brabus premiered the models in Geneva back in March, but announced today that the cars are finally ready to hit the road. The three cylinder turbocharged engine from the standard fortwo has been reengineered to produce an impressive 98 bhp (72 kW) and 140 Nm (103 lbs/ft) at 3,500 rpm, launching the 750 kg midget from naught to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Although the fun stops at an electronically limited 155 km/h, Brabus claims that its fortwo will sip only 5.2 litres per 100 km (that's over 45 mpg for you on the U.S. system).

The smart fortwo BRABUS comes with "bright-finish "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels with wide tyres measuring 175/50 R 16 at the front and 225/35 R 17 at the rear, wider rear wheel arches, a sports exhaust system with centrally positioned dual tailpipes in the specially styled rear apron and a body lowered by ten millimetres." None of this matters, obviously, if you haven't got the "Brabus" feeling while sitting IN the car. Luckily, Brabus has remembered proper interior modifications, including cockpit instruments with specially designed dials, BRABUS stainless steel sports pedals and a new BRABUS leather steering wheel with shift paddles, which Brabus claims "underlines the exclusiveness of the model." Available in all colors, and in both coupé and cabrio models, the fortwo BRABUS prices start at 16,490 euros.

For three thousand euros more you get H7 projection headlamps with titanium coloured surrounds, a front spoiler with enlarged air inlets, striking side skirts, a special rear apron, body-colored styling parts, leather upholstery and a nice leather-effect instrument panel.

Brabus does some serious work on the Smarts. I have seeing some legit Brabus Smarts rolling around down here, and do they every haul.

So the convertible is rear engined as well?
The steering wheel looks incredibly similar to the Civic steering wheel.

I've only seen a couple around, but I love'em. Did you know that you can park those like a motorcycle, straight or backed in to the curb? Parking must be a breeze.

haha I saw one of these (smarts) today. You really have to be a goon to drive one here in America. But then again, this is coming from someone who drives a classic Mini. Ironic. haha.

Or if you live in a city where parking is non existent or if you do only in-city travelling. I've seen one in Boston.

In Mexico City, you are allowed to park one of these things non-parallel as you would with a motorcycle, given its length is about or less than the width of most cars.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun car to drive. I used to own one, a couple years back. Only had it for like a year, sold it because Mercedes was giving us a hard time, when ever we brought it into the shop. Something happened to the transmission, about 3 months in and Mercedes did not want to look into what happened. In the end they did fix it, by that time we sold the car.

Too this day, I can't wait to see Toyota make a micro car, wouldn't mind driving around in one.

One thing if your a person like me and you like listening to music, this car not for you. The sound system in the car horrible because it is so small, not enough speakers *sigh*, hopefully that is not the case with the new one.

The interior looks fantastic.. although being a Brabus, it probably has a ridiculous price tag (our Brabus Nightrun edition is Cdn$26k!!!!! with NO performance mods.. purely cosmetic).

Hmm..
750kg, 98hp, 103lb-ft, 9.9 seconds... nice.
1335kg, 110hp, 115lb-ft, 10.2 seconds... impressive :P
