That's a good question. I have a bunch of those flowers on the side of my house but have no clue as to what they're called. :uh:
I think these are the same ones?

Yeah, same flower. They are everywhere in front of my job site and I'm just curious about it.
Btw, awesome car shot!
As posted in the August thread, does anybody know what's the name of this flower?
If memory serves... those would be the Agapanthus. I used to run a green house back in high school. We didn't sell these, but I studied a bunch of different flowers. Anyways, they come in different colors. Blue/purple is pretty common.
Thanks John! How long before your site is complete finish?

EXIF only tells me the camera, lens I had to guess :p
Based on your type of photography I've been seeing, that would make a great lens for you.
If the exif is intact, you can pull it into programs like Irfanview, photoshop, ACDSee, lightroom and it'll tell you exactly what lens was used.
asukadc 09-02-07, 07:46 PM did a photo shoot with my friends, the subject supposed to be my car.
while i let them work their magic, i decided to snap some shots as well

S54toIS350 09-02-07, 08:15 PM asukadc,
I'm curious to see what type of setting you have your JPG set to (Canon's Picture Style type for Sony) or what type of PP you do.
Your photos always turn out so nicely saturated and clean
*Edit* nevermind, I viewed the EXIF :)
Contrast: Normal
Saturation: High
Sharpness: Hard
skribblez 09-02-07, 09:43 PM Hmmm, when did you meet up with Henry and Garret? Garret told me about this and I wanted to tag along!

there are only +1,+2 max for saturation/sharpness for the a100 unlike the high end canon +7 or up
so hard= +2
sat high =+1
as far as te post edit, noting more than the ctrl +l, ctrl +m , ctrl +alt + i, frame /sig/ maybe sometimes a color boost here and there

Thanks for sharing ACleanSC4. Your pic has a nice blurred background and a nice background too because it's RELATED (there's other glasses for example) and not too distracting (no bright lights, buildings, people, etc. :D).
What IMO would make the picture better is if you capture all of both glasses and maybe a bit of foreground surface like the table.
Not much of a photographer, still trying to learn with my 30D...
Here's a shot of some glasses of a recent wedding I attended...
Cool picture. +1 on what Bit said. I think I would like to see the whole glass in the picture and maybe more of the surrounding environment.
Is this the work of the 50 1.8?
ACleanSC4 09-07-07, 05:38 PM Thanks for the C&C guys, much appreciated! I tried to do the full glass thing, but it didn't come out as sharp as i'd like...
Woogie, yep 50 1.8...
Here's the full glass shot...
http://www.tonywin.com/gallery/albums/celebrations/20070901-saravychadwedding/_MG_8541.jpg
ACleanSC4 - I think the lens just misfocused for that picture. At first, I thought the lack of sharpness was due to motion blur (which it could well be), but the stem and the base of the second glass looks sharp to me. That lens does that sometimes, especially in low light situations.
I could tell it was the 50 1.8 based on that bokeh. The light reflection spots to the left of the second glass and to the right of the first glass are very typical/characteristic of the Canon 50 1.8.
I am home from college for another two weeks. I haven't gone out to explore our little town of Sumner, WA in a while. For this reason, I called up two old high school buddies and we drove / walked around town for a few hours. We started about 30 minutes before the sun climbed deep into the hills.
I'd greatly appreciate any comments and critiques you may have. Fire away:thumbup:

Yep...a little OOF...it is tough without good lighting and the right lense...I shot this quickly using a 17-40 4L and can't get close enough to get detail so it's a little out...just have to wait till I get some natural light and a macro lense.

Why not back off a bit physically and then zoom in? And a tripod or flat surface for the camera will help a lot.

I would have liked to see a straight horizon, but that would unfortunately cut the bottom left of the picture by quite a lot. That's too bad because it's such a cool picture! Where were you at?

Nice - maybe you can post (in a new thread) your impressions of the A700. I think many would be interested. I know I would! I'd like to know why you bought it, if you have the new 16-105 lens (great range), what you like and don't like about it, etc.
Thanks.

Then I suggest pulling up the original and cropping MORE - maybe showing her waist up - which will still capture the lovely smile and grace. There's an old cinematographer's rule of thumb: never cut a person at a joint. When you shoot or crop, try to frame at mid-calf, mid-thigh, the waist, mid chest, or just above the shoulders. In general, it looks more natural, perhaps more random to see a person framed this way. There is a lot of esoteric theory behind this, but you'll find that MOST of the time, it works well. ;)
