My brother is looking for a commuter car that is cheap. Here are the 3 requirements for this car:

1. Has to be cheap.
2. Cheap.
3. Did I mention cheap?:)

Basically, he wants to lease a car under $200/month with minimal out of pocket costs in California. Can someone recommend a car to him? Please recommend any and all makes. Thanks.

$200 a month?

VW has ~$200/month; 36-month deals for the Jetta, Beetle, and Rabbit (with ~$2k down).

Nissan also has ~$200/month; 24-39-month deals for the Altima, Sentra, and Versa (with ~$3k down).

Toyota has a $229/month; 36 months; $779 total drive-off for the '07 Camry.

mazda 3 - $98 a month
mazda 6 - $129 a month
