Hello all,

I just purchased a new Prius and the finance folks wants to sell me the following:

- Nitrogen for life $39.00
- Extended warranty: $1095.00 with 0 deductible 7yr/75000K miles
- LoJack $739.00 (big talk about how in-demand Prius parts are)
- Etching body panels/windows: $199.00
- Tires for life: $299.000 everything except sidewall damage

What does most people think about these services?? Thanks.

Right now, I don't know how long i"ll keep the vehicle, meaning the 8years or not. Maybe 5-6years or so, depending on how the future of Hybrids go as far as battery etc. etc. & maintenance down the road.

a) Nitrogen - It has always struck me as a gimmick.

b) Warranty - Pricing seems right and not a bad investment overall assuming it is through Toyota. If it is a 3rd party warranty I would pass on it.

c) Lo-jack - Here are the dealer costs in MA:

$395 Basic Lo-jack retrieve

$535 w/ Early Warning upgrade ... notifies owner of movement typically by cell phone

d) Etching - unecessary

e) Tires - Judgement call on your part. I can see why it would be tempting

1) no - don't think it really matters

2) depends, i would ask for 100k if anything.

3) no - waste of money, if they want to take it, they take it. you have insurance already. and lojack doesn't really lower your insurance much

4) no - another worthless thing, if your car is gone, it's gone

5) 300 bucks is cheap, i'd probably do that
