BMW announces 1-Series cabriolets and world's first silver-effect top
The 1-Series, and its cabriolet counterpart, are available in two models: the 128i and 135i. The 128i is motivated by a 3.0 litre, 230 horsepower engine which the German automaker says provides both rewarding performance and unmatched fuel efficiency.
The 135i comes with BMW's award-winning 3.0 litre, twin turbocharged engine with 300 horsepower, endowing the car with fantastic performance and excellent mileage figures as well.
The high-performance 135i comes standard with sports suspension, 18" wheels and an enhanced aerodynamics package as part of its list of upgrades intended to keep with the car's sporting intentions.
The convertible top is made of fabric, and can open or close in 22 seconds, storing in the trunk when not in use.
Optionally available is a world first: a top made to shine. It's constructed of a special fabric with woven with silver metallic fibres to create an iridescent effect in sunlight.
More details and pricing are expected before the 1-Series cabriolets go on sale in the second half of 2008.

I'm actually thinking of its direct competitors, but there really isn't anything out in the market like it. It seats 4, but is a 300+ hp ragtop that is smaller than a Corolla.
It definately is unique.
