I actually like the looks of it. It's distinctive.

Otherwise, as far as performance, luxury, and reliability; I can't say much because I've never driven or owned one...

I've had extensive experience with an '06 FX45 and I must say, it is one of those cars that just blend everything perfectly. Looks wise I think it is beautiful. The design is totally original and there really isn't anything like it on the road (except for the recent copy-cats). Technology wise, considering that the car was released in 2002, it still is ahead of some of the competition. The FX had the intelligent key at a time when I believe the ONLY other player offering such technology was Mercedes-Benz. Then you have the laser guided cruise control and lane departure warning system. Performance wise, considering it outperforms the Porsche Cayenne S I think says enough. Not to mention that the exhaust note of the FX45 is intoxicating. All this while still being able to handle some light-duty off-roading.

The FX45 is like a sports car with hiking boots and a backpack. It's a perfect blend of sport and utility.

Clearly its very different. It drives very sporty as well and we know they have great engines. I like the exhaust note. Its cheaper than a Cayenne or X5 but it should be.
I also think it looks like a clown shoe. Its cramped. The interior would make Hyundai (10 years ago Hyundai) giggle. If you really want this much sport, then get a sport WAGON.

I rate it a 2 b/c it serves no purpose other than make people who think they are too cool for a RX or MDX.

I say 4. The reason why it's not 5 stars is the rather cramped rear seating area and the HUGE blind spot (the rear quarter windows don't really help).

The rest of the stars are for the hunkered down look, the HUGE stock rims and the sweet exhaust note. Would I buy one? nope, never, but that doesn't mean it's not cool to me.

I love it. The fx45 performance (have to see it to believe it), the look, the exhaust notes, and many of you forgot to mention-- the sweet looking tail lights.

Not much of a fan of either the 35 or 45. Quirky looks, so-so interior quality, especially on the early ones, too-stiff a ride for my tastes (the harsher-tired and more stiffly-sprung 45 more so than the softer 35).

In its favor, though, is a much better reliability record than its full-size Armada/QX56 brother (they are built in a different plant) and relatively good bargaining deals because of stiff competition from Lexus and Acura.

4/5 for me. I liked the design, it looks strange to me at first but it grew on me. So its the unique styling. Interior is so-so, the newer interiors Infiniti has really makes the dash look like a ATM machine. Performance is top notch. And space is lacking, the back is really cramped (almost like an IS).

I've always like the FX45 for it's different styling & good performance, but yes, n terior space for rear passengers/cargo are not good for a SUV this size, rear access for passenger in particular.
To me, it's a SUV for people who really don't need a SUV. I still rate it a 4 though.

We have one in our house... We love it! It has it's flaws, so I give it a 4 out of 5.

that's such an exaggeration adn you know it. i sat in one at the dealership and the interior while not the best, is decent and attractive (styling wise).

My dad had the FX45 which he later traded because he didn't like it much. My cousin now has the FX35 because he liked my dad's but couldn't afford a 45. The rear spacing is indeed cramped, small, tiny etc etc as with the rear trunk spacing. The V8 engine was quick, power when you need it and the handling was better than your average family sedan at the sacrifice of comfort. While the infamous Infiniti exhaust note sounds good it became tiring. Just like my dad, the price for the car wasn't justified for us. He traded it in for 2 Siennas.
