Spy photographers have captured the first images of the 2010 Lexus GX — or possibly its platform mate, the 2009 Toyota 4Runner — while out testing near Toyota's southern California headquarters. The next-generation 4Runner is expected to bow in about a year — as a 2009 model — with the Lexus GX arriving in 2009 for the 2010 model year.

Not much is know about either vehicle, although more details should be known soon as the vehicles have obviously begun road-testing.

Looks like it will have LX rear-lights or some sort of GS rear-lights.

wow it honestly doesnt seem like the current 4Runner and GX were on the market for that long. A new generation already?

Too square to be the GX. Look at the GS inner tails, lol

Ill think differently. I remember seeing on a few websites and magazines stating Lexus will have another SUV called the "JX". Like the LX which is based off the Land Cruiser, JX will be based off that monstrous Sequioa. That could fill in as the new Sequioa/JX570.

"JX" will be a unibody SUV slated above the RX. Not a full size Sequoia clone.

That's a very skinny "pillar" in the rear window frame.

Sure that's a 4Runner/GX? It seems very uncharacteristic of Toyota to just sloppily slap on some taillights from the parts bin (like the GS + LX rear lights)

well...it IS very early in the development since new vehicles came out in '03 unless this is the JX that has been talked about before...

Hopefully it isn't as fugly as the new LX or Highlander are... The current 4Runner is pretty good looking, better than the GX IMO.

I think thats the new sequioa.

You're all jumping to conclusions :D:p.

That is obviously an early prototype/development mule. Those tails are there just to fool you, and to test electrical systems. They are definitely not production tails. As of now, it's hard to tell exactly what model this is, but my guess is that it's a 4Runner mule. Also look at the front end and how far the tacked-on headlights are sticking out.

Too big to be 4Runner/GX, it has to be Sequioa

I think this is the new Sequioa.

Something about there rear and the lights look like the outgoing Seq. Also, the wheels are 5 lug design. The current 4runner/GX are six lug. The new Tundra is 5 lug so the Seq will likely be a 5 lug. The mirrors are 4runner/GX/LX.

So very tough to tell. I really can't see Toyota testing the GX/4Runner in southern California of all places.

Actually on second thought guys. That is a LandCruiser.

Looking at the front and the rear thats a landcruiser.

I highly doubt it's a Land Cruiser. The LC is already out; it would be silly and pointless for Toyota to be testing the LC at this stage. It's also doubtful that's a Sequoia because we've seen Sequoia spyshots with normal head and tail lights.

Again, this is a very early prototype/mule for something else. Why else would Toyota be using decoy headlights and taillights?

Still speculating but it could be the new 4runner.
Highlander is so big now it's in the current 4runner territory. 4runner needs to be even bigger:eek2:

Maybe its a new LC variant. You know like how the Caddy Escalade has 3 versions work with. I still think its a new Sequioa. It has been on a long run already yes?

Maybe its the LX and Lexus has made some changes from the model they showed in New York. Maybe they heard all the bad things we wrote about and wanted to make a few changes.

my guess is its an UFO
:p

maybe Toyota wants to upsize its 4runner since they upsized their RAV4?

It's been out since '03, at least.

The 4Runner looks a lot bigger than it is. It's only an inch longer than the Honda Pilot and the new Highlander, and it's not any wider or taller than either of them.

This is NOT a the new sequoia. Look how big the tail lights are in relation to the rest of the rear end. The back of this car is midsize. The GS/LX lights are quite large on the rear of it.

I really think that is the new LX and they may be doing more testing of electronics, revised taillights, etc. Current taillights as is are hideous.

Although the integrated hitch and rear wiper model that of the current GX so who knows.

Possibly. I sure do hope that they dont merge the two tail lights together to make some type of G35 Sedan tail light....that'd be pretty nasty.
