Toronto, Ontario - Mercedes-Benz Canada has announced the introduction of new Manufacturer's Direct Dealer Incentives (MDDI). Effective immediately, the incentives will range from $750 to $10,000.

The company says the CLS550 will benefit from an MDDI of $6,000, while the S450 MATIC will receive an MDDI of $8,000, and SL-Class models an MDDI of $10,000. The incentives are available on AMG models as well.

The incentives are available to customers who pay cash for their purchases, but lease and finance rates will continue to be highly competitive. Due to substantial adjustments, lease rates for the B-Class and E-Class models now start as low as 3.9 per cent.

In addition, participating dealers will continue to waive the first month's lease payment and security deposit on selected models, and will absorb one per cent of the GST on all models, effective immediately.

No offense but why is it the wealthy always benefit from this kind of deals (S/CL class) just like the Lexus $12,000 discount (LS600h L which costs Cdn$132,000).


If anything, it's those buying the entry level models that are cross-border shopping. Luckily for MB of Canada, MBs are hard/troublesome to import into Canada compared to Lexus (or most other manufacturers).

Wow that's a nice chunk of change. Sounds almost too good to be true. Also notice is states AMG models too. Usually the high performance special vehicle editions are not included in deals this good. I wonder if there is a catch to this??

Maybe because a discount that big on cheaper cars would be giving away the car almost for free, although I wouldn't mind getting a $10,000 discount on a Chevy Aveo :D

that is still a lot of $$$. i wonder how many people who drive benzes can actually afford to buy the entire car upfront. im willing to bet most people here in so cal who drive nice cars could not buy an entire luxury car in cash.

do they screen you in canada if you walk in and make a purchse of this size with cash, they do it here on 10k and up chucks of cash in the US

I actually don't think $10000 for the S-class & $12000 for the LS600hL(especially the loaded version) is high enough of a cash rebate given the current exchange rates.
Of course the high end models gets higher rebates, the price difference between the Canadian & U.S. prices are HUGE for them compared to the low end models.

do they screen you in canada if you walk in and make a purchse of this size with cash, they do it here on 10k and up chucks of cash in the US

I always pay for my cars up front unless there is 0% finance (as with my preowned C43) or some other incentive not to do so. I simply do not like being in debt. So I was shocked to find out that the VAST, VAST majority of people I know here in Vegas who own expensive cars not only did not pay up front, but could not have done so. In fact, I know of one guy here who is going to have to get rid of his M Coupe cause he cannot make his payments.

But it may suck if you buy a high end AMG, since they're going to give you only 10K max anyways, thus it's not that much more worth it to buy any car beyond cheapest car that gives you 10K back... kinda... though I don't think it'll stop people buying AMGs:D

i bet a full 50-65 percent of people in So cal drive cars they could not afford to pay upfront. you dont know how many stories i've read about people who get cars they cant or barely afford because here in so cal your car is your identity. i know people whose car payemnts,insurance, is more then their apt/house payment. crazy right?

i'm gonna say it's about the same in vancouver, most ppl that have the nice stuff are completely financed (unless they're established money, and i gotta say, there rn't as many establishedly wealthy people hanging out in vancouver as there used to be, its a lot of new money)

they most certainly do ... and you have to hang around while they confirm who you are, that the money isnt laundered etc etc ... its actually more trouble to pay cash for a car (at least in vancouver anyhow) ... as a side note to that, dealerships in vancouver ALSO wont let you put the entire car on your amex, even tho most amexs are still charge cards (and therefore have no limit)

Hmm... wouldn't it be better if you just "finance" through a bank and then just pay the bank loan immediately (i.e. rather than pay the dealer cash, just get the bank to pay the dealer and you "borrow" from the bank as if you're gonna finance and then just pay it off). Would that work?

I dont think they meant cash in that sense. More like a check for the entire amount right there and then.
