How hard is it to get dealer parts on new cars in Japan?
Hoping one of you can shed some light.
Working with a manufacturer to get some Skyline OE parts to start building some molds. He has a few parts but can't seem to get to others like the sideskirts.
So my question is...how difficult is it to get parts from the dealer in Japan, esp. for a new car like this? Is a VIN or ownership proof required?
I would have to think crash parts would be available to coincide with the cars release. I'm sure someone who got in a fender bender first day with the car wouldn't want to wait months to get a new part.
Much thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

With the new GT-R. Good luck, I doubt anything will be available easily, even from Japan.
The best bet is to find a new GT-R owner who is willing to have his car taken apart for R&D.
If you're talking about the ~R34, there are Nissan specific sites out there but all I know are Toyota ones. However, with the rise of the internet auction and idiots trying to make a quick buck in Japan, a lot of these sites will NOT sell it to you unless you prove them you own that vehicle (ie "shaken-sho"). I'm looking for a Corolla Runx/Fielder shift boot but I got denied b/c they thought I was another one of those idiots.
For reference, I recommend www.kurumayasan.com (but dunno if they sell Nissan parts...i think they were toyota only).
