B8 Audi A4 will come standard with upgraded 2.0 TFSI in US
Amazing but true, this new four-pot turbo will be upped to 211 horsepower output and torque of a whopping 258 pound-feet. That’s up from 200hp and 207lb-ft on the current 2.0-liter TFSI which we already love.
This gives the 2.0-liter four some fifteen pound-feet more than the naturally aspirated 3.2-liter V6 which will also come in the new A4 when it arrives. Both engines are fitted with Audi’s Audi Valve-Lift system for better power and fuel management besides.

My 06 2.0t A4 was pretty peppy (see quarter mile in sig)... but it definitely could have used a little more kick. This is definitely what they needed. Now if they could only give their V6 a similar treatment... maybe slap a turbo on it. As it stands now there's virtually no reason to get the V6. Barely any more power, less fun in response, heavier, and worse gas mileage all for more money.

Considering that the aftermarket goes way beyond this, even with the older 1.8L engines.
11hp is nothing to brag about, but 50lbs/ft increase is impressive, indeed, provided that the torque is available down low and during a fairly wide rpm band, like it is on the earlier engines.
One also has to take into consideration the fact that the new A4 is going to be larger and heavier than the previous car (which was not exactly a light-weight, either), so the increase in power is probably offset by the weight.

I thought they promised to increase the hp to around 230 to compete with the 328i? Even the new TSX is promising around the same numbers (230) in hp.
That's a significant increase in torque (51 lb/ft)but as asked before, what is responsible for that much increase? Is it just due to the turbo and Audi's valve lift system alone?

The 2.0T/DSG combination is indeed a sweet one. The VW/Audi DSG impresses me as much as BMW's superb power steering.
I just wish that Audi and VW would make the Quattro/4 Matic AWD system available with this combo. On most of their U.S market vehicles, you have to move up to the 3.2L V6 to get the AWD, which is ridiculous....the 2.0T easily has enough torque to handle it.
