Yeah, that's sweet. My Marauder wants to be like that when it grows up. You should see the pictures of when he chopped the frame to fit those monster tires in back.

I'd put a light bar on the roof.
It can probably pass anything but a gas station.

So much for the jokes about the Marauder being a rebadged Grampa car with sport trim. And speaking of trim, anybody notice the Cobra emblem on the front fender......obviously stolen from a Mustang?
And.....with the whole top end of the motor sticking up like that, so much for driving in the rain.
I test-drove a new Marauder in the late 90's when it first came out. Power, in stock trim, wasn't impressive at all....at least not quite what I expected. The rival Impala SS felt like it had more spunk.

Actually most people think it is an old mans car but... they give it credit for way more power than it actually had in stock form.

Marauder came out in 2003 and disappeared in 2004. Very low production runs in the grand scheme of things too. As I mentioned above the 302 HP rating is very difficult to feel in stock form. An easy tune improved performance dramatically in part by actually making the TC lockup much less aggressive (unlike the IS-F). There is also fantastic support for power adders for this car (especially given the low production numbers) that range from various PD blowers (Lysholm and Roots) to a couple of centrifugal units and the rare turbocharged entry. Many of these are roaming the streets with 400+ RWHP that look, and sound, stock until the go pedal is depressed.
It's a fantastic cruiser in stock form and is mean as heck when modded as above. Nothing like the above but it is my DD.

You're right.....I checked the production dates. But it seemed like I could remember test-driving one earlier than that.
I agree it was more sluggish than expected.....perhaps because of the Marauder's weight (it is, of course, a traditional American full-size car, but downsized somewhat from the classic late 60's Marauders).
Ford also used, I believe, a stock 4.6L Mustang engine where GM used the Corvette's 5.7L in the Impala SS.....you could notice the difference.

The engine wasn't quite a stock Mustang engine. It has the 4V DOHC engine that was available at the time only in the Mustang Mach 1 and the Aviator SUV. It definitely misses having the extra displacement. IIRC the 0-60 time was slower than a Camry but the style....

Thanks.:) Don't remember that version of the 4.6 being in the Aviator, but I'll take your word for it.
As you indicate, the Marauder wasn't exactly a slug, but I expected more after sampling the 5.7L RWD Impala SS (which, by that time, was gone.....it was dropped, along with the Caprice/Roadmaster/Fleetwood, after 1996 so the Arlington, TX plant that made them could make trucks and SUVs instead). In fact, the original marketing justification of the Marauder was to try and appeal to former Impala SS customers.
A new Impala SS is on the market now, but it is a FWD, 303 HP V8 with loads of torque steer.

nice any videos of it ??
First one is more animated images set to music but it at least shows you the build and some of what this marauder (and others) can do with the easily available power adders.
